Thanks Gruuv, Big String, Dan, Bernie, Vic, Kjung, Narud, Peter Palmieri, and everyone else. I am blessed. All that abundant loving energy isn't going anywhere. Just a human circumstance is all, and requires a shift in direction. My life is abundant and rich with so much to be thankful for.

I am trusting God, and staying positive and enthusiastic that something great is coming my way. My plan is to magnetize a great new job/career position into my life by being the best person I can possibly be.

It is a privilege to be a member of this community and to have so many bass brothers.

I'll have my chance at an Alleva in the future. This is just temporary.

Blessings are abundant all around, Sometimes they just appear different than an Alleva bass right? :p

Gary I am really sorry you missed this particular opportunity but I love your attitude about it! It is inspiring to see you take the challenge in stride....May God bless you and yours and provide the answers you seek!

My 4 string A-C jazz copy just showed up via UPS. The first out of the new Cali shop? Jimmy says its a "transitional" bass. Started in NYC, finished in California.

ANYWAYS, I'm ferklempt and wanted to join in where I know people would understand. The thing is a BEAUT. Oly white w/matching headstock.

also, VERY SORRY to hear of your troubles, Gary. I hope it all sorts itself out soon.

I'm going to give it a month or two before deciding, but this A-C just might get me to sell my '64 J-bass and order up a 5 string version from Jimmy.

Looking forward to more ebullient posting in re: this lovely little baby.

Allow me gush a little more about Ace's old RA-5. I've used it on a church worship gig last Sunday (hence the comment from my friend), swing standards gig, and an R&B/funk gig (AWB, Parliament, etc...). I love the way this bass feels, sounds, and responds to my touch

The other thing that I'm noticing, and I never paid attention to it before, but it's definitely apparent. I was playing the RA this morning through my Tascam BT into some studio phones - learning a solo from one of Marcus's albums. It is remarkable how close I can get to Marcus's studio tone (upper register) with this bass. It lacks the signature ash growl/aggressiveness, but with the passive tone knob all the way off it's very much like a "sweeter" Marcus high end - same character, just sweeter. I presume much of that comes from the 70's spacing (obviously maple board, single coils, etc...). But it's very warm and round as well, especially down low. But roll the passive treble off and it warms up amazingly. What a beast! :bassist:
