Now, my dilemma. Both of these basses SMOKE!!! This is a testiment to how amazing the Atelier is, for the price. It's got a custom Suhr pre and the thing just oozes mojo. Huge low end, sparkley ash/maple highs, the grindy jazz goodness.
BUT, I played the RA-5 at church yesterday. My friend who's owned several Sadowsky's, and currently owns a SLAMMIN Valenti with both Sadowsky pre and single coils. He came up afterwards and said, "Don't sell that bass. All the notes were completely clear, but it just sounds OLD!"
Despite being different in obvious ways, they're similar in they're amazing slap tone - different flavors of amazing. And they are similar enough that I can't really justify keeping them both. . .
Ahh, decisions decisions. . .
