Joe, had I bumped into you earlier, I TOTALLY would have leeched your setup ideas for that bass........i bet it kills now.....back when, when I modded that bass out, I didn't know what the hell I was doin'.......:rollno:......

Another string question for the AC gallery:

has anyone tried both a .125 B and .130 B (non-tapered)? If so, do you find that one speaks better than the other - RA, Hipshot bridge?

I wanted to let you guys know first (as has been done in the past), but I think I'm going to have to put KPB4 up for adoption.

I changed cities recently with work and just haven't had any gigs fall into place so far. I was hoping to help cover some of the bass expense with gig money and as that hasn't happened things are a bit tight. I'm still wrestling with this decision, but it's looking like that's what is going to have to happen.

I had the privilege and pleasure of playing this incredible instrument last night! I had a gig about ten minutes from Andy's house. He stopped by and graciously offered to let me use it for our entire second set! :eek: My rig was an Aguilar DB750/Bergantino AE410. This bass just kills! It's even more stunning in person, and the quality of the materials and construction are as good as it gets. The setup was flawless and it just felt "right" as soon as I picked it up. I would have to agree with previous statements that this bass sounds and feels like a perfect 60's Fender with an added B-string(IMO). It has tone for days and is very even sounding over the entire fretboard.

PS: I'm sorry if I got any sweat on it. I'll give you a bottle of polish next time I see you. :D

Welcome to my nightmare. . . well, not really. :smug: This is not a bad problem to have. First, the obligatory pictures:

Now, my dilemma. Both of these basses SMOKE!!! This is a testiment to how amazing the Atelier is, for the price. It's got a custom Suhr pre and the thing just oozes mojo. Huge low end, sparkley ash/maple highs, the grindy jazz goodness.

BUT, I played the RA-5 at church yesterday. My friend, who has owned several Sadowsky's and currently owns a SLAMMIN Valenti with both Sadowsky pre and single coils, came up afterwards and said, "Don't sell that bass. All the notes were completely clear, but it just sounds OLD!"

Despite being different in obvious ways, they're similar in they're amazing slap tone - different flavors of amazing. And they are similar enough that I can't really justify keeping them both. . .

Hey Guys, Its been a long time since I've chimed into this thread.

I placed an order last February with a deposit and have been waiting for my Alleva LG5 to be completed. My company downsized in the midst of the economic crisis and eliminated my entire division where I had worked for the past 7 years. Came as a complete surprise and caught me off guard and consquently, I am now ill prepared to pay for the Alleva. I shared this with Jimmy and he's been ultra cool.

I am looking for work, but cannot follow through with the purchase of an awesome LG5 still in progress.

Up for grabs if someone wants to commit to an LG5 in progress. Chances are it could be finished much sooner than a brand new order. Just thought I'd throw it out there.

Specs:
LG5
Alder/Indian Rosewood
3 tone sunburst / Nitro finish (Jimmy says its with his Fender Nitro painter still in queue)
Indian Rosewood FB with binding ('66 transition era) Neck is in the shop with binding already done.
Active Preamp with Passive tone control option
Bridge -TBD

If interested, feel free to contact Jimmy and tell him you're interested in the bass he is building for Gary Roberts.

I feel sick about this, but cannot justify the cost when I need to make the mortgage and car payments etc. No idea what the job hunt is going to yield. I am in gratitude however. I plan to stay completely positive and magnetize good things into my future. I am highly respected and professional. Something good will happen. I just don't know where or when. Every change I've ever encountered has turned into something cool, something better. It is my intention this will be as good, if not better. But for now, I need to tighten the belt. Gary
