An update -

The company have now confirmed that no bass has been destroyed. However, the box the bass arrived has been destroyed. They have now confirmed that they have two "guitars" in their "Lost and Found" area. I've given them a full description of the AC - which is not hard considering it has a unique serial number. They are going through the process of hopefully finding my bass now.

My thoughts initially were -

You have two guitars in Lost and Found???? Let me guess - the other one is a Fodera :rollno:

I'm staying completely and totally on the shipping company's back until this is resolved. I'm even emailing them a daily update of what they have told me just so they have it in writing :) The national manager is involved and I'm thinking these guys now understand I won't go away.

Fingers crossed I can report that the AC is alive and well in the next couple of days.

I hope they fine it - that was my bass originally. If I can be of any help as well, let me know. What shipping company did you use?

And Jimmy - if you're reading this - have you started my new bass yet?

The thread has been slow so I'll write a little about the Alleva I'm cooking up. I'll probably call Jimmy and start it before the end of the year.

It was a hard decision to make between a KBP4 or a Standard 4. I'd like to have both and maybe that's something to shoot for in the future. Ultimately I've decided on a Standard 4. Specs like this..

Alder Body
Nitro 3TB
Tort Guard
Indian Rosewood Fretboard
Blocks and Binding
Nitro Vintage Tint Neck
Alleva Coppolo Two Band Preamp w/ Tone

I was originally going to go for dots and binding but since the butt end of the fretboard will be square on this bass, I thought the blocks would accent that better. It will pretty much be a replica of this bass. One that I've loved since the first time I seen it.

Anyone else have something in mind that they'll be starting soon?

I like that one. Mine looks like that one without the blocks and binding.
I'm thinking Black Pearl with Pearl block inlays and a matching pickguard and a ebony fretboard. gold hardware, Nitro finish and big singles p/u.

Something else I'll be starting? Likely bankruptcy procedures if I order another AC anytime soon. :hmm: I really like that bass in the picture - a total classic. I'll be ordering a 4 string at some point, but a few things have to happen first:

1. I need to decide what colour will go with the other AC basses I have. (Not too hard) :cool:
2. I need to not have a 4 string for a while so I'll be forced to get comfortable with a five. (Not as quick a transition as I'd hoped) :eyebrow:
3. I need to save money, lots of money. :(

I'm glad you've decided to hang on to your LG5, it's a beauty. Okay, just for fun... what colour do you think goes with white, 3T sunburst, and ice blue? :ninja:

Bernie.........why are you getting a bass that is essentially the bass you already have, but in a 4 string version.....:confused:....? I'm sorry, but I don't get it why people do that......I can understand jumping from a 4 to a 5 a lot more than jumping from a 5 to a 4 and having both......these things don't exactly sell for SX prices so the redundancy puzzles me a bit.....

So far my favourites would be CAOJ ( but that would be tort PG #3), or Seafoam Green with a pearloid PG (but that's a bit too close to Ice Blue). Don't know if I could live with a red bass, though I've liked the ones I've seen here... well, it's not as if I don't have some time to consider the problem. :hmm:
