I hate to say it, but that finish always looks like someone messed up the paint! Just my, opinion.... that leaves more for you.

Wow.. When I read it like that it sounds like a bad idea...Bernie.........why are you getting a bass that is essentially the bass you already have, but in a 4 string version.........? I'm sorry, but I don't get it why people do that......I can understand jumping from a 4 to a 5 a lot more than jumping from a 5 to a 4 and having both......these things don't exactly sell for SX prices so the redundancy puzzles me a bit.....
I think I know what you are talking about and that is a great finish.........I've seen it on a custom shop Fender once....

I don't think it's a bad idea when there's a method "behind the madness", brother........I really just wanted to know why I've seen quite a few people do that lately......I mean, I know my bass cost a whole lot of damn money and I can't imagine getting a four string just like it when there are other tonal areas that I may want to explore and knowing me, the bass that I need to "explore" with is gonna cost serious money too.....Don't get me wrong, it makes perfect sense if you're still pondering letting the LG-5 go in favor of the ST-4 and using the dough to get something else or getting a heck of a lot closer to that Garrison you're getting which I know has got to be costing several million dollars at this point.......
........besides that, it can seem like a bad idea to everyone but yourself and it could STILL be a good idea.......my bass playing buddies swore that paying that much for Dalbergia Negra was insane but the way that board makes that bass sings when I play it, it has proved to be quite valuable (it could be the fact that the bass is just fantastic,but I beleive that board makes a significant difference) and has a few of them trying to scrounge up money to grab one of the last pieces that Jimmy has............everyone has their reasons....don't let my ranting discourage you one bit......
Speaking of Dalbergia, I think I'm goint to be putting my 3T sunburst KPB5 back on the market. It's a stunning bass, but remains, and will continue to remain, unused. I'm not a Pbass guy, and no amount of justification about how wonderful an instrument it is will ever change that. Looks like the price will be $4000 U.S., shipping included to most areas of Canada and the United States. I might consider a trade for an AC 4 string plus some cash, or the right amp head plus a lot of cash.

My AC has now been officially confirmed as lost by the shipping company. It's pretty likely that someone has stolen it from the LA or Nashville depot on the 16th or 17th of November. Please keep an eye out for it. It's not like it is a generic bass so I'm still hopeful it will show up.
The bass is an Alleva Coppolo 4 string standard jazz. It has a serial B0011 scratched on the back of the neckplate. It is Sherwood metallic green. It is made out of alder with a rosewood fretboard.
Any help would be appreciated. You can email me on [email protected] if you come across anything. I can't name the shipping company because I'm taking them to court.

Mat, sorry to hear about the bass. I'll keep an eye out here in LA for the bass and I just sent an email to one of the local Bass stores, the Bass Exchange to let them know just in case someone tries to sell it.

You make good points. I appreciate the input. So don't feel one bit bad about offering it.
I really just wanted one so I had a 4 string jazz. That's the biggest motivation behind it. I would also like to have a bass that's Nitro 3TB from the Fender guy. Obviously both of these are wants and certainly not needs. My LG5 covers everything I could ever want out of a jazz. It's an incredible bass. I'm definitely holding on to it. It's going nowhere!
I would like to have an Ash/Maple bass at one point and maybe that's what I should address next? Or I should just take any gear money and just put it towards the Fodera. You're right, it's definitely not cheap! Food for thought anyways..
So we'll see. I'll of course post if anything happens.
