I wish you'd give an explanation if you have one rather then point out the obvious.
Jimmy's neck pocket on the LG5 is designed to get up to a high E while the 4 strings only go to an Eb.
Is there a specific design reason that you know of?
I never really paid much attention to the 4 string A-Cs as I've always been interested in the 5 now fishing around quick I am noticing this....
That being said is there a specific design reason why the 4 strings seem to be designed for Eb and then squared off for the addition of the Ewhile the 5 strings seem to have been designed to go up to E without the overhang?

If you found that as annoying, I'm sorry. It was a answer designed to lead you there instead of just stating "dude yours is a five and your comparing it to a four". In my defense I was driving and responding on my phone.
As far as why, I'll guess.
Fours are that way because that's what a fender is and when somebody like Jimmy gets started it begins with I'll build a neck for this fender and grows from there. Then you have a formula.... you either change or just keep doing the same... don't fix what ain't broken
The five , I think that a bigger neck pocket would help create leverage, stability. Also if you deside the goal was 21 fret and why not? You start at the same point to give a familiar feel and run the neck heel further into the body.
Of course I'm completely speculating here. I'm never heard a word about this from the man.

Sorry man, I don't mean to be that persistent - but that bass really does it for me. So does this black one I just picked up, I figured it would be good, but WOW!

I'm sure Jimmy had a reason to design the 5 the way he did and your speculation is probably a good guess. It just would seem to me that one of the guys that's been into A-Cs for a long time would have known this and spoken up about it. I bought mine second hand so I've only had one brief conversation with Jimmy. I'm guessing a few guys have discussed the difference with him at some point during their custom order.

The true test of the beast is the next 2 days and 3 gigs. Just sounds ridiculously good with home practice and then rehearsal the other day with both me and my mate - a much better player than me - playing it. Basically running the bass flat too, everything up, leaving the onboard Pre unboosted and just the smallest touch of 300hz from my Hellborg Pre and its monsterous!
It just does everything a good Jazz bass does and more. Just goes from very Pillowly and Warm tones to over the top crispness.
Im a very, very happy man for my 13month wait!! If I didnt have to watch my spending for the coming months, Jimmy would be getting a second order straight up!! Let the exodus of 'extra' gear begin hahah
