Have any of you AC owners tried the Hipshot Vintage Bass Bridge (Link Removed)? I was reading a few AC threads and the Hipshot B Style vs. Vintage Bent-Plate debate came up a few times. It looks like this would be a great compromise between the two because it looks a little sturdier and sleeker than the Vintage, but still has the bent-plate designs. Just a thought.

Anyways, great basses guys! I wish I had enough money to own one... I love Paul's tone in this - http://youtube.com/watch?v=evcIPAXPhNY

While the necks are totally stable, I still always carry a tool in my gig bag just in case I need to make an adjustment. For the Sadowsky, this is a tiny little steel tube (wonderful). For the Alleva, it's a big honkin' screwdriver.

I've been trying to find a small 's' shaped screwdriver to use, but every one that I've run across has a 'shank' (or whatever the part is called that actually is inserted into the truss rod adjuster) that is too long to fit into the rout (or has the right sized shank but too small of a screw blade).

I finally found this on Amazon, and it works perfectly. You may have all found a solution already, but just in case you didn't, this does the trick.



Just search for the following in the Automotive section on Amazon:

Slotted Offset Screwdriver - 5/16 In x 4.95 In

He's changed some things around this year, but it used to be the tort guard was an upgrade you had to specifically ask for, so you might wanna' double check that.

I have the Celinder branded version of that bridge on my J-Update 4 and it's very nice indeed. I always string it string through body.

Here's a picture of the one I found, listed in the thread above (next to a standard small size speakon connector for size context). You can see it is small, but super heavy duty, and has that unusual combination of the very short shank combined with a wide, larger screw head.

I hope Jimmy sees this and orders these for case candy. They are literally perfect for adjusting the Allevas easily without scraping up the rout, etc.

Again, just FYI!

mine is a little bigger...:) the wrench that is....:eyebrow::):):)
i should have thought about it the way that you did and used something familiar to show a size comparison...
but anything like that half a swazsticker shape works great...

its amazing the ingenuity we bass players have.... guitar players would still be standing there scratching their heads trying to figure out how someone else can do it for them...:):):)
If any guitar players see this.. im only joking with ya...

Yes that would be the right case candy to include with each bass... Jimmy has been so busy and i have not had much time to run thing past him lately.. but im surehe wil pop in here soon

Well after debating back and forth whether I wanted an LG5 more or a KBP5, I went with the P. I traded Steve my LG5 for his 3TB KBP5 with a Dalbergia board. I'm just more of a P guy than I am a Jazz guy over all. This bass is outstanding! By far the best three tone burst out there. The Dalbergia board is really something to behold as well. Can't wait to play it with the band.

I hope George doesn't mind that I'm using his pics. I'll get some of my own up soon.

Thanks, Ken! I'm really happy with it. I don't see any 'honeymoon' period with this bass. It's a P bass and it either works or it doesn't. This one works!! The fit and finish is just amazing and once again Jimmy has knocked it out of the park.
