Since Ken's thread was taken over long ago by Alleva Coppolo fans, I thought it would be fitting to have a thread devoted to them.

I'll own an LG5 one day. So I'm in the curious fan category right now.

We also have owners on the board so we have a good mixture.

So show off your basses, post your projects and ask questions. :)

Just spoke to Jimmy today about my LG-5, should be ready sometime in September!:hyper:
Specs:
LG-5
Alder Body
Honduran Rosewood Fingerboard
A.C. Preamp and Pickups
Aged Olympic White body and matching headstock
Vintage Tint


Spoke to Jimmy about changing the fingerboard to the aged brazilian, BUT found out the wait time would be longer...so just going to keep mine. For those who want the AGED BRAZILIAN...GET IT NOW! its not going to last long!

Thanks! Jimmy's design is pretty cool. The first three knobs are the classic 'Fender' type controls... volume/volume/passive tone. They are in the standard J position and the knobs, etc. really feel like a traditional J. There is a push/pull active passive switch on the bridge pickup volume knob.

He then adds the active treble and bass boost only controls below them, using smaller knobs. So, the look and feel is very much in the vibe of a very good sounding vintage J (which happens to have 5 strings:D ), and then the 'addition' of some subtle active tone boosts to fatten up the tone if needed.

This is somewhat similar to the very nice Sadowsky NYC layout, but a prefer the separate active knobs versus the 'stacked' design.... it's a little simpler to adjust 'on the go'.

Edit: Interestingly, I was always a little put off by both the headstocks of these basses, and also what I thought was a sort of 'unfinished' look for the standard guard, with the 'plate cutout', but no chrome control plate (i.e., rear routed control cavity). When I finally purchased one, I find both of these things strong positives in the look of the instrument when seen 'in real life'!

That's going to be a beauty!! I love that color combo and it will probably be the one I end up going with...

Me too. Although I don't have one in real life yet, I feel that I'll love those little quirks when I get mine. :)

I'm pretty sure that's another Harvest Gold one, but not sure. There was some post around on some thread a while back about that picture.

If you look closely, I don't think that one has the passive tone control installed. The 3rd knob looks like the small treble boost versus the full size passive control. Who knows though!

ken .. give me some time and i will post the pics.. i took those at NAMM this year... my camera or maybe it was me was on the fritz, so they are sort of too dark... i will post what i can find...and hope for the best
