Club Behringer? hey hey hey

I'm pretty happy with my behringer gear.
I own the BDI21, MIC 200 tube preamp , Tuner, Set of Active Monitors.
BDI21 = FAT TONE !
MIC 200 = easy for recording and adding that little extra to the sound
Tuner works fine

I'm a happy user. It would be nice if they tried making solid pedals but hey ...

Well your certainly can't complain at the price of Behringer's gear compared to other manufacturers. I've owned the V-amp for bass, as well as a BX1200(?) combo. The V-amp was great, the combo had to be repaired twice so got replaced - but it was a great practice combo none-the-less. At the end of the day, you get a lot of bang for you buck, and if the gear is looked after, there's no reason that it can't out last any other gear. (I think I was just unlucky with my combo).

Would I buy Behringer again? Certainly their mixing desks and efx pedals, yes. An amp? Well, if they venture into the small amp head market I certainly would be interested. I'm surprised this hasn't happened yet, as other manufacturers are churning out ubber small super powerful heads that seem to be all the rage at the moment. Ashdown seems to be on to something with the Little Giant range. If Behringer did something like that, you can guarantee that people would be interested. I would too.

All too often people forget that product copying goes on all the time. All those super cheap microphones from Japan for example flooding the market, are copies of existing high end models of other brands, and are often exactly the same as the copied version.
Many higher end instruments makers will use cheaper components to keep their overheads down, put some people just assume that a high price equals higher end components. Not always, and people are ignorant to this sometimes. So while gear bashing is fun, let's try and see the bigger picture.

hmmm.... so I'm going to pull my "musical instrument store manager" card here. We (an independent store in the Denver area) carried Behbringer for a couple of years and during that time dealt with MANY defective Behringer products. They have a 1 year warranty and are great to deal with for exactly 365 days. (we'd often give the customer a store stock item and Behringer would send us a replacement). But if you're amp blows up on day 366 you're SCREWED. In the five or six years we have sold new Boss pedals we have seen only ONE defective one. During the time we sold Behringer gear there were too many too count. But, think about it: if Mackie makes a mixing board that costs $300 and Behringer makes replica that costs $150, then somebody's cutting corners, right?

In my experience, Behringer gear usually sounds ok, but can't be trusted.

So...they are great to deal with as contracted, right?
A customer is not paying $300 for the Mackie, so why would they expect to be treated like they did?
Actually, they paid $150, then were able to buy a rack headphone amp, and a rack EQ.
We've all heard the stories.

Edit: I can tell anyone who wants to hear it a very very bad personal story I had a couple years ago with Mackie too. They were charging my credit card for something they never sent, and were threatening to send me to collections. Again, over a device that they never shipped! So, it happens everywhere.
But in the case you state, Behringer acted in good faith - they lived up to their warranty beautifully.

I'm guessing, You probably sold a lot more Behringer pedals than Boss.

Not sure how long ago you sold Behringer but they have revamped their pedals. And discontinued some old models.

Behringer's year exchange warranty is very good. Some other brands are very difficult to deal with while still under warranty. Forcing you to ship something off to be repaired.

Usually, if something is going to fail, it will fail during the warranty period.

And most brands you're screwed when the warranty expires. Behringer at least list a lot or repair centers.

The best brands have the longest warranties, but they also cost more. A longer warranty is a liability and the companies will loose money if they have to honer a long warranty. Many of the "lifetime" warranties sold in the past aren't worth the paper their printed on.

I noticed some business rankings.
In 2002 Behringer was 54th on sales.
In 2006 they were 17th, and 2007 14th

Now they would be "Red Chip Company Ltd" but I expect their sales to be even stronger.

You can find Business information on why Uli moved to Red Chip - it was a move to actually share some of the companies worth with employees.

Bugera, Behringer, and some other brands fall under Red Chip.

I have the Behringer BX4500 head. It was my primary head for two years, never gave me a problem, plenty of clean, powerful sound. It's now the backup to my Sunn Coliseum-300 head, as the Sunn has a stronger and more flexible EQ section.

On my pedal board are a BDI21 direct interface and a DR100 digital reverb. The DR100 sounds as good to me as the $150 Boss pedal it copies, but the DR100 cost only $30. I use it every gig. The BDI is there in case I need to connect to a PA - I usually don't use it since I got the Sunn head, but it's set to its SVT emulation in case I want to try that.

I have no problem with Behringer's approach to reverse engineering. It's called "competing in the marketplace".

Im in! Just got a BXL450 and i think its great! I don't know what everyone's talking about the 'dead tone' because mine has great tone and very versatile as it has many adjustable knobs (5 EQ, gain, 2 channels, shape, level etc.) As for reliability, well I've had it only for a day so I can't say much on that front however, I had it up full volume w/drive so it can't be TERRIBLE quality.

Very pleased so far... :D

I didn't know we had a Behringer club. I wouldn't generally say I'm a fan of any particular brand, but I own a slightly beat-up Eurorack.

Conceived and designed by Behringer Germany. It's mur fiele gud.
It gets the job done and doesn't sound bad. Wish the hell I could. :D

I've played some Behringer bass stuff in the past. Never had a good time. Their recording and PA gear on the other hand has always been a great bang for the buck. While their bass products aren't that bad, I feel like (in my experience) there are many many better options for that price range - peavey, traynor, carvin all blow behringer out of the water. And of course there is always the used gear route.
