Club Bordwell Part 2.

Alright, still hammering out the minor details, but I should be in the April build.
Specs: 32" scale, Ball shape, fretless, 7 string tuned BEADGBE, douglas fir top, ash body, faux f-hole (like my Ball 4), stabilized gaboon ebony fingerboard, Nordstrand Big Split pickups with either a douglas fir cover or ebony (depending on what Cliff thinks looks better), Modern neck with a wider wenge section, Bartolini 3 band.

Man, that'd be great. I'd have to ask permission of the host, however. I'd love for it to turn into a small GTG, and even bring several of my pieces up, but it'd be nice to keep it under control, too.Better let me know when you come up.

Thanks! Very stoked to try something a little off the wall like this. Knowing what works for my needs and the climate has made for some fun troubleshooting. My goal is to loosely try to get a similar sound of my Ball 4, but with the obvious addition of a "few" strings.
I'm also very delighted that this bass seems to have taken less than 1/4th the mental effort and e-mails to figure out. No gripes with how my Rami 6 turned out, but that took lots of thinking.

Ball 5, 1.5" ash body with full face flamed walnut top (53), all maple "slim" neck, "oval" profile, "stabilized" maple board, aggie two band preamp with passive bypass and tone, black hardware, Aero single coils. Not sure about 18mm/1.75 or 19mm/1.875 spacing yet. Leaning towards 18mm/1.75.

My 17mm Zon would argue pretty successfully against that.....but I thought only 19mm 5 strings could be played in these parts.

Of course, if you had the right technique, any SX can sound like a Zon!
Kidding aside, sounds like you're gonna have a pretty sweet bass. You'll like the CB and the CB "club" is pretty darn cool. Considering most of our reaction to our bass is to order a new one right away, he's doing a lot of things right.

Yeah, at this point I've spoken to enough people who I think have enough exposure to high end stuff I'm familiar with, that "it's gonna' be good". I've already had LOTS of comms wtih Cliff, and he's been absolutely great.
Yeah, Cliff's communication is tough to beat. The amazing thing is the price and quality, too. I'd be hard pressed to find something nearly as good in that price range without having to spend 2x as much.
Yeah, I almost posted to that, but since I still haven't touched one yet, I decided not to. But I do pretty much expect that'll be my feeling once I get it.
I have a ball walnut body. What I would say is that it is the most articulate bass ever. I cannot make it muddy no matter what I do to the 3 band EQ. I love that, but if you like grit and mud then choose another wood.

What kind of bridge is that? What are the benefits? GREAT looking bass! I have my second coming up on the next build. Burl Walnut. I can't wait.
The bridge is indeed a basic Hipshot A. Next to the bridge is a Bass Mute (www.bassmute.com). The benefit is that I can toggle on and off a foam muting system quickly, accurately, and reliably. I can also fine tune the amount of contact with each string, making the string to string consistency extremely good. I highly recommend a Bass Mute. Cliff and I are possibly investigating adding one to my next CB, which should be in with his batch starting next April.
