Actually, when I first saw this headstock design on the guitar in progress, I thought that would be cool for a bass as well. I really dig this as alternative to the regular design. Cliff, I think it is worth to become a prototype. Just wondering how it would look with a Ballbass, maybe for a Big McNeely? I´d say give it a try.

Finally officially locked in on the May build which should yield a bass by the end of July. Can't wait to see some work in progress pics.

Again, it's a Ball deluxe 5, flamed walnut top, 3 band eq with passive mode, stabilized birdseye board, aero J5 pickups. :)

I dig the new logo, but I prefer the old headstock. The rounded edges complement the bass body styles better. Looks great on the guitar though, since it has more abrupt angles.

I just saw this. :) I'm in school full time again so funds are short. Also, my good friend Brian Ristola built my current bass and we're talking about the next one or two when I can afford it. I'm very happy with what I have. I definitely have an appreciation for what Cliff is building though. I played one of the earliest ones and it was already an impressive instrument. I'm sure his current builds are incredible.

Figured I would pop in here real quick and let you know that my new albums (that's right... 3 new albums) are now, finally, available on my website. I promised I would let Cliff know since I play my CB exclusively on all 3 albums. Check it out and please let me know what you think. The bass came out great. Thanks again to Cliff for a killer instrument

Even before a TB Club Bordwell existed, I used to tell Cliff his basses just kept looking better with each new batch.
I haven't repeated myself for a long time now but Cliff, this last batch is absolutely awesome. Every one of the instruments in this last batch leaves me speechless.
Guess one of this days I'll have to go for my third CB (don't panic Cliff!) !!!:D

And Cliff, as much as David's guitar has a nice headstock I really agree that your regular headstock just looks wonderful on basses and has become kind of a trademark. I am sure most of us have come to love it for it's originality, simplicity and finesse.
No need at all to imitate Drozd/Tobias... IMHO

Hey guys, allow me to collectively pick your brains. I already asked Cliff this, but I'll take any suggestions.

My fretless 7 is coming up and that seems like it's good to go.

After this build, so probably will order shortly after getting the fretless 7, I'll be ordering a fanned 7 36-33" scale. I really like Jean Baudin's tone on Transcend. I'm hearing single coils and chambering. Your thoughts? I'll probably also be adding Midi, but not sure if I'll use the piezo or not since they can get very zingy on fretted basses.

Man, have you got my attention on this one. I am going to take notes...especially on suggestions regarding the chambering with single coils approach.

This was potentially going to be my 1st CB and Peavey was going to make a bass similar to my Ball 4, but after messing up my Cirrus 4 custom AND quoting me ~$5k, I ended up having Cliff build me a bass with similar specs for less AND it was obviously higher quality. I had just about ordered it again as my 2nd bass, but Tim's Nordstrand+Audere bass blew my mind and its' application as a 34" scale 6er made more sense.

LOL, I suppose it could have become my 3rd order, but the allure of a 32" scale fretless 7 got the better of me, especially with a douglas fir top!!!! :hyper:

BTW, Cliff just suggested the Nordstrand SEs, which should work quite nicely. Long story short, this is kinda based on the Dingwall, but 1" shorter. I'm planning on this being mostly a touch style instrument with super low action, but still good for fingerstyle. At the moment, we're planning on a pale moon ebony top, headstock cover, and fingerboard. Not sure if I'll have pale moon knobs, pickup covers, and ramp since it could be a little too much and constrast might be a little more appropriate.
