Hello Bordwellians, if you don't mind i have a question for you.

Some of you have both maple and wenge neck from Cliff.

Since wenge is hard to finish. Is it as smooth feeling as Cliff's maple neck?

Do you like the feeling of the oiled finish wenge VS the finish of oiled maple neck?

I really prefer the feel of Wenge over maple necks.
I really don't know how to describe the feel though.....
if you're worried about the neck not feeling smooth, then don't sweat it! Cliff sent mine feeling very comfortable and smooth as any maple neck would feel.

thanks Scott, just the comment i was hoping for... I like Wenge a lot for fingerboard but i never had wenge in a neck before...

I sold 2 basses since i ordered my CB. I took the best of all of my different basses and tried to put it in the upcoming CB...

Since i have a little more money, i upgraded the bass a little more with a walnut back and a flamed maple center piece...

i hope it will look like that...

Bassman74,

I have steered away from the recessed straplocks for two reasons. Firstly, if you forget to bring a strap with those locks, you can only play sitting. That's not too big of a deal since each bass of mine has it's own strap, but it still is a concern. Second, I think that the extra little bit provided by the washer/strap button is a good thing for making balance just a touch better. How much better, probably not noticeable, but in my head, it makes sense.

Also, I just purchased this top wood to hopefully for a Ball Bass. If everything goes well, I will be able to order it around the beginning of February.

These little videos are great!!!

I just finished every details wit Cliff regarding my upcoming CB.

I sold 3 basses lately and bought a new one so my needs have changed since i placed my CB order.

Cliff was kind enough to go over many details again...

+ 1 000 000 for Cliff.

BTW the update are coooolll looking specially this rear end:

I keep asking how that incredible neck joint is made but no one seems to know. Is it meant to be top secret, or something? I wonder if Cliff minds explaining?:)

Basically the neck will sit on the 3 layer heel accent, which sits on the body. The extended part of the neck is planed to be flush with the body. I would assume the top is glued on after the neck is glued in place.

Cliff certainly does it a little different than other builders. Companies like Gibson and PRS look pretty primitive compared to Cliff's work.

Again, a lot of the look is due to the sanding and shaping after the neck is glued in. You can kind of get an idea if you look at The News section and see how the basses look before the final shaping.
