I was thinking of replacing my big singles with something , not sure yet but they tend to seem a little dark regardless of what rig I use , my CB is a mahogany fretless with a ebony board , love the bass but just want to brighten it up a bit , I am going to ask Cliff for his recommendation ,Hello bordwell club member!
It's me AGAIN....
I have a question for you nordstrand owners....
My wonderfull upcoming bass will be equipped with big singles... I just not sure if it's the right choice for me. I try them a long time ago and i found them shy in the Highs department, it was maybe because the bass was passive with alder/RW combo.
I'm just not sure if i should go with a combination that i already like (NJ5 + audere)
I already have 2 basses with nj4 that's why i wanted to try something else...
What's you ropinion on the big singles?
Would you stay with a combination that you already like or would you try something different?
Thanks a lot!!!
Yes, the next batch looks interesting. I see some nice wood combos in there. Of course I'm partial to the Bubinga......
that sounds like a good idea , with the ash they might be fine , they are great pick upsHeloo craigb43,
the wood combo for this lovely bass is:
ash body core
figured koa on top
black walnut+flamed maple centerpiece on the back
maple neck, dark rosewood board...
I finally decided to go with the big singles, if they are too dark for me, i'll order another set slightly underwound
Very nice, TateEvan!!!
I know that some of you have one so what do you think of stabilized fretboard?
Please Bordwellians!
Help me choose between rosewood and birdseye!
