I use D.Addario Nickel EXL's. .45, .65, .80, .100, .130
They are my favorite sounding strings. And the price is great especially when you buy the two packs.

The fretboard is maple, but it is some crazy looking maple. I have never seen any maple like it before. Leave it to Cliff to blow my mind with something like this. I specifically didn't ask for birdseye or flame because I was trying to keep it simple and keep the price down. But that's why Cliff is so great, he always finds creative ways to make each instrument exceptional. Check out the figure on this maple... looks almost like snakewood!
It looks even cooler in person. And yes, the ramp is maple as well and Cliff did make the ramp the same dimensions as the pickups, and there is a route under it the same. So theoretically, if I ever wanted to, I could switch the neck pickup and the ramp and get that tighter 2 pickup bridge spacing setup (like Tommy Kennedy's signature Fodera). It became another great design aspect of the Signature model.

Thanks. I thought it sounded like nickel, but I wasn't certain. The gauges help me to appreciate the string tension that you like for your playing style and techniques.
It's interesting to me how Cliff's basses have a certain resonance to them regardless of the wood species, strings, pickups, and body style combinations. Sounds great!

Cliff you had some spectacular Carribean Rosewood on the site Have you made any basses out of it ?If you have ,I would love to see some pictures please.
I think I might have mentioned this in the past, but I'd love to see a photo that shows each completed bass as a whole. While I appreciate seeing various sections of each instrument, it would be really nice to also have a shot or two of the entire bass...maybe one from the front and one from the back.

Most of it was used for backs, here is the only top it was used on.
It starts out looking like Walnut then over time more colors will start to show.

That's a good idea, I will start organizing something like this for the future.

My band is hitting studio mode soon. The next tune will utilize the 7 string.
Anyone with a CB Ball Bass 32" scale - Get a Custom Case made by ProBagg. I did and it wasn't cheap but neither was the Bass. This totally completes the package!!! So easy to carry, as I sent him a full tracing of the bass. No extra wasted room. I will be writing up more, but short story: Johnny Chavez was SUPER easy to work with and start to finish was....................10 days
