I feel like I'm on my 20th change as wellOf course you do. I have a build coming up after this one that I totally just changed in my brain for the 20th time. I think for the final time. (Yeah, sure thing…)
I'm looking forward to this new batch CB family, make sure to post lots of pics to help us all in the build wait line!

Filth
that could be the sister top to my Ball 5! Beautiful!
I am no longer the lucky owner of this bass, but @gruvit is also on the forum.Any Spanish Cedar body owners?
What's your config? (Pups, electronics, neck woods, fretted or fretless)
Thoughts?
The bass had a separate top and back, but just seeing the Cedar from the side it was still really nice looking. As THE resident Bordwell owner, what did you think? Characteristics? Quibbles (if any)?
Oof…. you might have a PM incoming, sir. I missed out on this guy last time because life got in the way. Don't want that to happen again….Hey y'all, I hate to do this, because I LOVE LOVE LOVE Cliff's basses (and they'll have to pry my Ball 5 from my cold dead hands (lol)), but I have once again learned I am simply not a 6 string player.
Here's the original FS ad, bass is exactly the same, I'll sell AND ship (continental US) for the same price of $1400, which is a ridiculous deal IMHO.

My MO is to always give a club advance notice prior to putting the Classified Ad up, so as loyal "Bordwellers", here's your "early access" chance!
DM me if interested. I'll give it a week or so before posting in Classifieds.
Woo! It's been a crazy month here for me. I appreciate the mention to get my head back in the game haha. As the lucky current ownerThe bass had a separate top and back, but just seeing the Cedar from the side it was still really nice looking.
It had a little darker sound than alder, and it helped give the fetless a little more balance.
It had sweet sounding mids though, but it was a little heavier weight wise. I think Cliff went out of his way to find a light weight piece and that is why he doesn't use it that often.
The all Wenge neck that bass had also gave the bass a lot of bite, so it might be hard to tell what the difference might have been from that body core wood.
It's a nice wood though, maybe @gruvit can add to this.

I really dig those Dunlop Super Bright strings as well.Woo! It's been a crazy month here for me. I appreciate the mention to get my head back in the game haha. As the lucky current ownerI would agree with that assessment. It's honestly the bass I reach for the most often. I don't know how much the Spanish cedar has to do with it but the collection of specs it is EXTREMELY expressive in the mids.
You know how some fretlesses you really have to be spot on with your technique to coax out the slightest bit of "mwah?" This thing is so mid-forward and ballsy that even playing VERY sloppy you really can't NOT get an extremely vocal, but still very musical quality to it. It has solid, fundamental bass to it but doesn't ever really get boomy. It also doesn't seem to have a ton of high-highs. It's almost like it has a "reverse smile" to the frequencies. Maybe more of a "reverse smirk" with the peak of the hump in the upper mids.
I've been curious about switching to my favorite Dunlop Super Bright Nickel strings but the current set sounds so good I'm afraid to change anything haha! I can snag more pics from the side if you'd like! @scottm maybe it's just my phone being weird but I didn't "see a picture below" like you mention.
Yep, no top either, dual coil Nordstrand in sweet spot, maple neck and fingerboard, fretted. Sounds killer. Spanish Cedar is pretty soft and dentable, however, it's very lightweight and resonant.Any Spanish Cedar body owners?
