He said it's as hard as ebony, so we'll see. The piece itself doesn't look all that different from ebony, apart from the blonde streak on the top of it.
Alright, I got to hurry up and decide on double P pickup orientation.
I'm leaning toward the first choice, but I'm not sure if I'll dig the look. It would give me that traditional voicing at the neck, while rounding out the tone at the bridge.
Also, thumb comfort is important. Traditional placement of the neck pickup my drive this choice since I find that familiar and comfortable.

It's double reverse P pickups, so same as #3.
Janek Gwizdala also plays a double reverse P bass:
#1 makes the most sense sonically. But # 3 prob the best blend of sonic and comfort.
I couldn't decide on a double P config which is why I went with two big rigs.

I definitely dig Janek Gwizdala bass. I had planned on doing a 5 string E to C like I normally do, but I wanted something different. Hence why I went with a medium scale 6 string.

I'm excited. These are some different wood and pup choices for me.
I'm going with a MM pickup in the bridge and a J in the neck.
When Stingrays started doing two pickups, that was the combo I thought sounded the best, but it was probably the least popular.
Bordwell fretless 6 action shot! Hadn't played out with this in a while, and I really missed it! Funny, I always think my Ball/McNeely hybrids look huge until I see a pic of me with them, and they look quite normal-sized. I think the top horn kind of makes it look bigger than it actually is. It'll be interesting to see how the upcoming D build looks in real-life.
Edited to add a cool side shot of the neck before carving.
My 6 string BIG McNeely is coming along nicely! Pistachio and Mac Ebony Woods look great together.

I originally planned on the 6 string Ti set that are flats, but I'm thinking of ->

I don't know much about strings. But I put TI jazz rounds on my Bordwell and they are amazing. Expensive but lasted about 6 months. Luckily I also enjoy dead rounds so I plan on changing mine once a year.
