Club Bordwell Part 4

Hi All, Great stuff I'm seeing here, really nice! Saving up for a CB fretless build myself, hoping to pull the trigger once this COVID volatility settles down.

I could have sworn the CB bass web site had a page with sample and available woods... But can't find it now. Anyone know what happened to it, or where I can find them?

There was an "available tops" section on the old web page, along with an "in progress" page documenting the current crop of builds.

I believe Cliff moved over to a new web server, and stopped trying to keep "available tops" and "current builds" pages updated and switched over to posting updates on Facebook and Instagram.

If you have a particular top wood that you're interested in, hit him up and he'll be able to send you pictures of what he has in stock.

This was posted on Cliff's Facebook page today. I think it will look fantastic when finished. Will this build go to one of our TB members?

BigMans. The BigSplitMan didn't yet exist at that point.

I don't run them solo'd in single-coil mode much. When I go to single coil, I general have them paired, and am looking for a more raw, less thick and complex tone that the dual-coil modes give.

The Big Single does that pretty well.

Mike, are those BigMans or BigSplitMans? Trying to figure out a pickup for a future fretless. Leaning hard on another BigRig, it the BigSplitMan was suggested.

Thanks! I still smile just looking at it...

Still tossing around the idea of switching my upcoming fretless build from a Ball to a Dola, just because the Dola shape is so beautiful and comfortable (and gives a lot more surface area to show off the buckeye top!)
I haven't had a Dola, but comparing the Ball bass to my SCB I would say that the ball bass felt a lot like a Thumb bass. It felt narrow and long(obviously longer than a thumb).
The SCB is much more comfortable.
That is why the BIG McNeely came in to shape to be a little best of both worlds.
With that said Cliff's basses are all comfortable.
