I ordered it in the end of October when I heard that his prices were going up. I was quoted 13 months this go around. Last time it was 11 months. So, for a whole year later, he only went down two months.

MAN! That's got to be a tough spot for Cliff - he's trying to keep it small, so he remains a one man shop, but I imagine that much more than a year wait and you loose orders.

Don't worry Cliff, we all find money for you somehow! Beck is on #2, I am on #2, Dave Muntner (spelling?) is on #83, etc. etc. :)

Pau Amarillo???? Any pics?

Sounds awesome, I love the specs.

On an unrelated note I'm going to see MMW tomorrow night, I'm hoping Chris has his "S" bass with him.
Cheers,

Here is a figured pau amarillio top on a bass Matt Schmill of FBB is making me. He called the figure "rope curl"

So there's a hollow chamber on the top bout? Nice.

Not exactly. I was gonna have a black accent line between the top and body, so figured I'd get a f-hole cut in it to give that illusion! Looks like it works! I'll also be sending it to Mr. Dolan to get a polyester coating on the FB with a matte finish so you can't really see that it's coated either. I guess I wanted to mislead people with this one. :p

Ah, I was curious if that were the case. Can't tell by the picture. Nice idea.

Well it is official... I am in for #2... which is funny because I am still waiting for #1. The prospect of having a fretless and fretted with matching specs was too good to pass up. I figured i may as well just trust myself and cliff and go for it while I have the money.
Here are the specs.
SCB 5 string Fretless
Spanish Cedar Core/Figured Purpleheart and Black Ebony Top/Purpleheart Back
Black Ebony fingerboard with Purpleheart Sidestripes and Purpleheart Lines.
Figured Purpleheart and Black Ebony Headstock.
Nordstrand Dual Coils in Purpleheart Covers w/ 3 way switches (series/parallel/single coil) Black Ebony Ramp
Audere 18 volt 3 band pre w/ Z mode, A/P switch and 3 way mid freq. selector switch
Black Hardware
Purpleheart battery and control covers.
Other than that all the specs are the same as my fretted (scale length, string spacing, neck shape, etc.)
Something tells me i am going to be waiting a while for this one... but at least I will have my fretted zebrawood bass to hold me over.
I cant believe I am already thinking about #3 :rollno::help::hiding:

I was just looking my bass over again last night and noticed that I cannot find a serial number anywhere. I guess I was just wondering if any of your basses have them, and if they do, where are they?

Justin Beck

Looks like the latest batch will be shipping soon! Pics on the website show basses with sanding complete. All that would have been left is a blast of clearcoat and installation of the electronics. And since we all know that Cliff's website is deliberately behind his actual progress...
