Club Clement: Part 2 (post your basses here)

Well, seems like Mr. C and I have finalized the details for #189, the 6 string fretted that is being built for me.

The body will be Swamp Ash wings on a Mahogany center block, Limba top, Mahog/Maple neck, Ebony board. 34" scale, 24 frets, with Bart CBs and NTMB 3 band eq. The last detail was the pickup placement, and I decided on 28.5" for the neck and 31.25 for the bridge (from the nut). Basically the same relative spacing as my Zon TJ6 but half an inch closer to the neck.

Here's the rough layout of the top, I asked Tom to just throw the hardware on it to help me pick a top. Looking forward to this one!

This is going to be a very interesting sounding bass— very round ans warm sounding with some top end clarity, me thinks!

She is absolutely gorgeous!

Man as I have said before, I am not even Bass player and I find myself 'jones-ing' after another TC bass! Well, I just purchased a pair of Adam Audio A7 nearfield monitors for my studio. Next on my list is the Adam Audio Sub 10..........damn! I forgot about the Phil Jones bass amp! Definitely need one of those!!! Think I need some Valium!

Guys,
Do you all realize we are rapidly approaching Part III for this club? Part 2 was only started at the end of October and we're getting close to 1000 posts!
It took us from January of 2008 till 10/30/09 to finish Part 1 of Club Clement and now, in less than 5 months, we will be opening Part 3!!! :hyper:



You may now resume drooling over Tom's latest and greatest (so far!) creations!

Personally, I play with a medium-height relief on fretted basses, but I like my fretless basses with a little lower action, about 2mm at the end of the fingerboard.

But that is just what works for me, and YMMV.

For me, at least, the amount of bow follows how low I want the action, and I adjust the relief to be as straight as possible to achieve the desired height without "fretting" out anywhere on the board. The nut and bridge height are of course an integral part of this equation, as well.

Congrats arcangel, another stunning bass from Tom! The redwood is gorgeous and the finish looks superb!

Don't worry about wanting another, I think thats pretty much par for the course after the first! I'm waiting for my Warwick $$ to sell so I can get my hands on another TCB!

So I'm left in a dilemma....

When (if :spit:) my Warwick sells, what do I do? I've had my eye on #164, already built and waiting for a new home, or to I start on a new build adventure of my own.

There's too many stunning basses coming out of Tom's workshop to be able to pick only one!!

Redwood? Limba? Paduak? Plus there's some rather sexy flame maple in Toms hands.

Hi Folks,

The 7-string has finally landed - phenomenal instrument - I can do all I ever wanted to on it and extremely easily...

Tom is a brilliant luthier - buy your dream bass from him now!!!

I am in the process of saving for a computer link to record the monster in the near future and will post a sound clip sometime in the future...

PS. The current crop of basses look fabulous guys... Tom is certainly surpassing himself these days!!!
