Just posting to say how much I still like #216 after almost half a year. I might be throwing a preamp in to get more tonal flexibility, but the playing comfort of this thing is unbeatable. The lightweight (7.6 lbs) and perfect balance makes it effortless to wear for long rehearsals or shows and the custom neck size is perfect for my hands.

I'll probably get around to taking some pics of 231 tomorrow but I've just gotta say that this thing is just great. I wish the band I was in actually had songs where fretless could fit but for the time being I'm happy just playing it in my basement, lol. Nordstrand fixed the pups and sent them back and they work fine but I actually like the pickups that borrowed from a TBer better! They're Kent Armstrongs and they growl like crazy. Totally diggin' these pups! Just for the heck of it I'm probably going to try some others as well but, man, I'm just lovin' this bass!

I'll definitely have a video up in the next few weeks because I'm working on a cover of a pretty cool song but the bass is tough, haha. An actual review will happen whenever Amazon can send me a lav mic that isn't defective :p.

I just wanted to shout out a big thank you. Talkbass, and this club in particular, after watching for over a year, has led me to order a custom Clement. In a few months I'll be back, posting pictures and clips of Clement #244. It's gonna be a Walnut Joan, with a maple board, 4 string headless. I can't wait, but I guess I'm gonna have to...........

Thanks, JBY

Finally got around to taking some pictures of 231!

Thanks man! Here are the specs!

BODY:: Swamp Ash
STYLE:: Kim
STRINGS:: Five
TOP:: Flamed Redwood w/ ebony accent veneer
NECK:: Maple
FINGERBOARD:: lined fretless Bloodwood
STRINGS:: Ken Smith Burners
PICKUPS:: Kent Armstrong/Alder
ELECTRONICS:: 3-band Bartolini NTMB 4.7A/P w/ 3 position mid switch.
SCALE:: 34 inch.

Originally, the bass had Nordstrand DCs which sounded great but had some microphonic issues. Tom had me send them back to Carey to have them fixed and in the meantime a fellow TBer let me borrow these Kent Armstrong/Adler pickups and I like them even more than the Nordstrands, lol! Lots of growl to 'em while still sounding very musical. I'm actually going to try few other sets just for the heck of it, either way this bass is just awesome!

I got a quick n' dirty (i.e. sloppy :p) clip while I had the Nordstrands in. Invalid Link Removed I'll get a few more later on.

Thanks man.... can't wait to hear those Adler clips! And BTW, the clip with the Nordy's sounds damn good. That is a great sounding bass. Nice playing too!

@Kwesi - Don't you DARE apologise for posting pics like that! - Jeez bro - that bass is stunning! Plus your Clem clip is super - the tone is amazing. There's defiantly a lot to be said (or heard I suppose) for the bridge heavy pup's. Loads of growl & burp - then the Mwahh out of your fingers and the 'board can really shine through. Great stuff - looking forward to hearing the next.

@bass5str - Welcome and congrats on the twins! The bits of Myrtle that I've seen have been pretty hot - look forward to nosing over your babies on the thread!

Kwesi, the only thing better than those pics is the sound clip of it getting some play. That bass sounds great. I am trying to figure out which route to go as far as you tube video recording gear, but when I do I will post something (at least audio) of 232 in action. Anyone get some new recording gear that they are loving right now?

I love this camera.

Canon PowerShot S95 Review - Watch CNET's Video Review

The videos on FB are lower quality than what the camera produces. If you shoot on high quality outside on a sunny day and plug the camera in to a 1080 big screen you will be surprised at how good the video is. and so small it also takes very good low light photos. The sound is better in lower volume situations. It does seem to distort in high volume ones.
