I just bought 171 from tombowlus. Love playing this bass !

You should make more short scale basses. I have both Birdsong and Landing basses and this bass is every bit as good as their basses are and they specialize in short scales. As of now this is my #1 bass of course I'm still in that honeymoon period but I'm loving it so far. Going to use it at my gig tonight.

You lucky SOB!!! Tom did 2 basses that came from a single slab of claro walnut and thats one of them. As much as I love my burled redwood top on #94, I think your bass (and its de-conjoined twin) is the single most impressive bass Tom has made so far.

Yes you are lucky that was a fun bass and actually there are 4 out there. I got 2 slabs and made 2 from each. As for short scales I make what people ask for....within my abilities

Body : Ryan - Swamp Ash - Oil finish
Neck: Quartersawn Maple - Bloodwood Unlined Fingerboard
Electronics: Nordstrand Big Splits - wired V/V/T - and with Radiused Ramp
Hardware: All Black - inlayed straplocks
Can't wait ! Might as well take my number
