I have a five string design in "the can" but I've always been so overwhelmed (as you can see) with four string orders that I never pushed it to that level. It's for sure do-able. Like I said, the designs are there but not enough "push" for me yet to invest in the hardware (parts). Actually I have 5 string pole piece core lamination's already made. If you really understand the design that might mean something to you.
I get asked this a lot and I'm always apologetic. I wish I had a better answer.

Is there a 'magic number' of pickups that would need to be pre-sold to give the 'push' to make a batch of 5 string ones? Maybe we can put together some kind of pre-order? I know I'd be down for a few, and I bet many others would as well!
I think what I'm going to do this time around is make sure that anybody I owe stuff to gets taken care of - first and foremost - then go nuts and build up some stock in anticipation of future orders and THEN get your permission to let my wife Laurie (she's a licensed psychotherapist and drop-dead gorgeous) take orders and take care of all the email communication for me.
This is partially why I burned out last time...having to do everything. I did everything and I obviously can't do it right.
I'll try to hang out here and answer questions as I can but I'm sure you'll have more fun with Laurie getting your personal and family issues attended to while you're ordering pickups.
She's been begging me to do this.
Good to see you back here, Fred, and your honesty. I really hope you'll be able to re-start up some business again, organise it in a better way you feel comforable with. I know the demand for Darkstars is still high, so please do. 
Fred, my No. 1 bass has DarkStars. I can't tell you how much these pickups have changed my tone and playing for the better. I've had these for about 4 years now. They are fantastic. If you get up and running again, I will definitely be requesting another pair.
Also, do you know the screw size that you shipped with them? I stripped a couple.
Follow these steps and delete or add your own signature.
I would say only sell what is in stock. No pressure that way.
I'm certainly interested in a pair down the road once you are back up and running.
Glad to hear you're back, Fred! Count me in for at least one pickup for my '69 Starfire once you get things up and running again.

Fred... great to hear your building PUPs again... I think you're going to be inundated with orders... there's a lot of people chasing these things...
... have you ever considered teaming (going into business/partnership/licensing your PUPs) up with a mass pickup producer to move more of these great products... ?
It's been a long time coming, but I finally got around to recording some clips of this bass today (someone in the AVRI thread asked for them, but I figured I'd post them here as well since it is a Dagstar).
I was plugged into my Sunn 200s head, ..................................................................................................................................I was just sort of doing this on the fly to give some recorded evidence of how this bass sounds.
really love the way you make it sound...the allman track sound so close!...
