Club Dark Star

Yeah maybe, although they're big poles and would probably work fine with any spacing.

That was my thought, too. The pole pieces aren't like narrow beams of pickup. As long as the strings are reasonably within the field of the outer poles, it should be all good. It should also be noted that the Tractor (which the seller was going for) used an original Bisonic taken from a Starfire, so it was a smaller pickup and that bass always sounded great to me!

Well, it seems he made a good profit taking money from people without giving them any pickups in return....

I remember reading about that months ago. He's still underground?

When he sold them for $200 I'd guess all the parts added up to a significant amount, plus time and labor, expenses, taxes, then some profit.

As most people would have paid using PayPal am I right in thinking they could reclaim their lost money from Fred???

That is only if the money is reclaimed within 45 days. I think I remember reading in this thread people who had paid and waited months and even more than a year for their pickups. If that is the case, only Fred can pay them back but he does not answer emails or calls. It also seems that when he resurfaced briefly last summer, he took a few new orders rather than making good his older orders. I of course don't know any details other than what I read in various forums, but it seems no better than that people have lost money for pickups they never got. If that is the case, it is bad.

I was one of his victims...he even claimed to have shipped it a 2nd time...never a tracking #, just his word & that aint much to me...For what it's worth, I have 3 basses with Darkstars. By the way, I never bought Darkstars directly from him, for any of those basses...

My sympathies. I never bought directly from Fred either. I couldn't, because he never answered any of my mails. That was before he disappeared. Now I am glad I never got any reply so I couldn't send any money.

Is this Club Darkstar worthy?
