Club Dark Star

One thing to improve about the Dakstar will be its support.
it will be easier to set correctly if he was supported by three screw inside a pickup ring as most of the usual pickups are. it's actually a pain in the neck to machine a special "ring" at the correct height with the pickup frame screwed on it without any correction possible (but the pole piece, string by string) I told once about Fred but he is(was?) always saying that the original were this way...

Thanks to all for the interest and encouragement.

5 string Darkstars were being eagerly awaited in the 2004-2005 timeframe and Fred kept saying they were in the works. I know many posters in the Dudepit were wishing hard for them at that time. I'll definitely have a 5 string product in mind. Right now tooling costs look like a bit of a hurdle but I'm still investigating options.

I hear what your're saying about the support, but I wonder how much of a the Hagstrom / Darkstar's tone would be affected by being suspended on 3 screws and springs vs. screwed into the body. That will certainly merit some research. I'm thinking that the first offering will be pretty close to the Bi-Sonic / Darkstar in design, but I can see the merit of a 3 screw design.

+1 for a new supplier of the Darkstars...I'm a broken record around here, having not heard or received any feedback from my calls/emails since early, last fall. Fred's had my money and order since last mid-June! I know of forum members who've ordered after me, having received their orders??? From my perspective, that's not the way to run a business...A great product can be undermined by poor customer relations! Starting anew, perhaps a change in product name may be in order, :scowl:

I am pretty sure that doesn't really change the sound, let's go with stronger than usual screws and we'll get a more adaptable pickup with better and easyer settings. if you don't do it , I'll do it myself :D ( I have no time for this in fact...;) )

If somebody here repros these and changes the name, it should still be a Dead song name. Maybe a naming contest and the winner gets the first off the line?

I vote for Terrapin Station's or Cosmic Charlie's!

And yes I would be another TB'er interested in getting one of these.

PS-Great point Chef.

The Landing I bought from Torin (who posts here as :::BASSIST::: ).
It's his pic but it's a nice one and I keep forgetting to bring my camera home from work....
