Agreed... I love this thing... it positively thunders!

USA Fender P body, MIM Fender Jazz neck, BAIII bridge. Everything you'd expect from Freddy's DS: huge, clear, articulate, full-range sound with plenty of tonal versatility. I've been shedding with it a ton lately... and I'd have no problem at all gigging it.

For those familiar with the Digitech Drop pitch-shifter... you know it adds a little tone suck with each semitone decremented. Tone suck isn't always a bad thing... when I kick it on and drop this bass to BEAD to play Black Velvet, it sounds absolutely magical.

“Worthwhile” depends on your needs, wants, and perceptions.

But I have two very distinct tones with my neck and bridge locations. Just as you would expect from any quality pickup.

I've made both - single DS/BS and N&B. I like both - "worthwhile" is a subjective term. Both versions rock. :bassist:

I'm not sure yet. I've really been enjoying my single DS P. I don't have any specific needs, I'm just playing around to satisfy curiosity. I have a couple of Freddy's DS's... thinking about firing them into the same P. My concern is that the single P that I have is so thunderous that the second DS won't really add anything to what a single P offers. So, I was curious as to others' experience. Thanks for sharing! :thumbsup:

They definitely sound great as one properly positioned. Two can just give more tonal variety.

Yep - I'm so glad they are still selling the more affordable Guild RI Darkstar. I've used them in a few of my basses. (they sound as good as the Novak's - but have narrower string-spacing)

I just had 3 dagstars custom made to get the exact spacing I wanted. It would have been nice if those guilds fit my vision for my build. Would have saved me a small fortune.
