I'll say! Quality costs though :)

It would be really cool if he would build a bass in the "old" style, I really dig the shape and everything. I like F-Basses in general, but this one really hit me as being something very special.

It's fun seeing these old F basses. I wonder what kind of collection of F basses Alain Caron has?

I ordered a Custom BN6 from George on Friday!!

Bubinga top, matching pickups, knobs, head and heel.
Rosewood fretboard on 5 peice maple/bubinga neck.
oil finnish

I haven't seen any F-basses with the same combination of specs, but I suspect it's gonna be a killer bass! Can't wait. Seriously.

Ooouch!!! I feel the pain. $$$$$
Especially after the price increase. $2999 for extra top?

A friend of mine worked at the old Turtle Beach sound card company before they were sold. He used to chat with Alain on sound card stuff (Alain used the old PCMIA based sound card before laptops started coming with built in sound). This was quite some time ago (maybe 10 years or so) but at the time he had 20 F Basses ... I wonder how many he has now ...

A new one isn't a bank breaker, why not order? Those prices on the Fbass site are HIGHLY inflated.

Been kicking it around, but I have been on a bass buying binge lately and am trying to go the used route first. I had to quite playing for two years, and now that I am (almost) back, I have been picking up some new gear.

Just curious, what is the BN5 like for slapping?

I've seen a clip of someone on YouTube slapping one. The sounds great (IMO), but I've seen the odd comment here and there about "insufficient space for pulling/popping" :hmm: .

Is this generally true, or is just one of those "carrots" things?

I keep seeing this beautiful blue swamp ash (maple neck) example doing the rounds on eBay, but nobody in the UK seems to want it  !

Breaks my heart ;) .

Preference totally but I'm used to playing basses with pickguards, so to me it's harder to slap on an F-Bass. I've seen basses where the neck sits deeper in the neck pocket and those are fine for me to slap on too but my BN5 has alot more space between the strings and body. That's just me though. The sound is good for slapping for sure.

I was in F-Bass last week and noticed this bass was stripped bare!! WOW! It's truley unique. I've never seen a finish or shape quite like it before. It's going to sound great when you get it back!!

Really? I just asked George to do some touch up on flakey & stripped
off sections of bass.....did not expect him to refinish the whole bass.

Yes- you' right...It sounded great despite the shape it was in. The bridge
was coming up, the bass was tuned downed a 1/2 step when I bought it and did not realize it until I got home and retuned it. So when It was in pitch :it was pretty hard to play with high action. But it has such a nice sound!! I used for one gig before I sent it and it wowed the audience! ( for looks & sound).

My fusion teacher loved it too- Kai Eckhardt.
And my other instructor (for Latin bass) -- David Belove wants to try it too when I get it back.
