Here are mine. The Quilt Top F Bass BN5 took the bullet for me when I was ending a relationship and needed cash. sigh. But I still play the TobaccoBurst every gig! Week after week. In fact, my standard Ash TobaccoBurst is the best bass I've ever played! Gary

Here ya go... still going strong. This bass is the only survivor of the bass "merry-go-round" over the past three years...
Dang dude, that bass KILLS me every single time I see it... man, if it was a BN5, I'd have snagged it from you back when you had it up fer sale a while back so fast it'd make your UPS driver's head spin. :)

Anyway, QUAD! Sign me up... I'm a late starter, but I think I have a good one here. :)

It's a slightly older ('04) model with the heavier ash body he's now moving back to, and a lesser seen mac ebony board, as well as the thinner neck profile (front to back, not nut width) he used to use (which I greatly prefer even tho I do like the current profile as well).

I need to take my own pics yet, but these will do for now... :)

Nice! George's tobacco finishes are becoming a favourite of mine.
+1

I got addicted to that finish the first time I saw it a while back after drooling over all his standard finishes. That, the lesser seen mac board, and the diff neck profile are all reasons I leaped on this one when it popped up. I knew if there was any F out there that was my F, this would be the one :ninja:. My second favorite finish of his is that cherry burst... man I love that finish, tho on that one, I'd prefer the typical maple board. In other words, yeah, AJ Brown has one of the most beautiful F's I've ever seen in my life.

Of his single-tone finishes, however, the trans blue just like Quad's is my favorite and always has been.

wow never seen a gold F before...

I have not either. According to George- it was special order
2 part Gold automotive finish. Hard to touch up too.

Gelb Music / Redwood City. North Calif. around the block
is a dealer for George. and I 've seen many of them too.

It was sitting in the Gelb used shop for a couple months before I bought it.

I enjoyed it playing so much despite it's problems - I bought anyways and sent back for repair.

Question - Since the preamp is boost only, what is considered 'flat'? I know it doesn't really matter, as long as it sounds good, but I was just wondering what George's intention was.

'Flat' would be with the Bass, Mid, and Treble fully counter-clockwise, or 'off.'

Tom.

Cool, thnks Tom. So, if it is full-up, then would there be a dip in the freq based on a bell curve, or do the freqs overlap?

Again, I know it's not important, but I realized at the NJ GTG, I didn't have many answers for questions about my basses. For many years, I've gotten by with twisting a few knobs here, and a few knobs there. Of course, until recently, I've had a volume and tone knob, and an amp with treb and bass knobs. Yep, I'm a recovering vintage snob of 15 or so years, and I'm just getting into the world of boutique basses....And loving it!!

I am not sure if the bands overlap, but if you turned them all all the way up, you'd have a roller coaster for a frequency response graph, for sure. But, I will say this. The F Bass preamp is one of the few where I feel like you can significantly boost two or three bands and still maintain a musical tone. I like it.
