I have called around...I called Gator case which in turn referred me too Viking Cases..they quoted me $407 or $437 depending on lining...for a custom fit case. I need a sketch of bass and some depth measurements.
hopefully Donovan has a better idea?

oddly enough...just got off the phone with George, he says SKB offers a (shell) case that will fit the Fbass Gig Bag
For you Ontario guys, Clydesdale Cases in Pickering will make a custom case too, for $425 with velvet lining..ask for Ron

I spoke with George about this when I ordered my BN6 which is in build now. He said that he could not find any HSC that fit the BN shape right. I would also love to hear what Donovan came up with...
Yes, it is my experience too that the shape of the BNs makes the case for them trickier to fit in cases.

Apologizing for the camera phone photos, here is a case that has worked very well for my AC6s.

Uh oh, that doesn't sound good. I hope all is well with you my friend.
All is well... problem is, as much as I love that bass, it doesn't get played as much as some other stuff, and I just can't get past thinking how wrong it is that it's not somebody's main bass being gigged all the time.

Just trying to switch gears to be a bit less of a collector and get down to a more svelte group of equipment that gets played a lot more regularly. It's a hard adjustment, because everything I have at this point is exemplary... even in its group of peers, IMHO. Very hard to part with ANY of it, honestly. And the VF isn't the only one being scrutinized here, either.

Right, I first read about this in comments on Musician Friend's site years ago:

"I was in the airport getting my bass case from the conveyor and look! i was standing next to Nathan East! He was playing the same festival I was!! My bass case came down the belt and his words were "Man What is that?" I said it's the ultimate touring bass case!! i told him about the gig bag inside and that i leave the case in the hotel room and his response was "Genius!! I'm going to buy a couple as soon as I get to the hotel!" Touring Musicians know how cumbersome cases can be. This thing is the ultimate! thanks, SKB"

If this is the case George was thinking of, here is the link to the product itself.

I have thought many times about getting one, but just never have. Many of the user reviews are glowing, but some caution that the latches are sub par.

Hi, friends. I've got a question for you. Has anyone got Roland gk-3b installed on Fbass? Can't really find a proper place for it that could suit me. May be you've got some ideas. I've installed mine on the back of body, I'll post a photo soon.
I have no experience at this at all, but I'm looking forward to your photo(s).

Phew. I'm glad it isn't a health challenge. I've had a few of those these last years and they've made me consider giving up bass altogether.

At any rate, I've been thinking along the same lines myself (wanting to narrow down the number of basses I have). That is a tough decision.

I use the SKB bass safe, which is the one in Tom7's photo and the one George is referring to. It works perfectly for me, and fits all my basses in a Levy's/F Bass gig bag. Lengthwise my AC6 and AC5 are a bit of a squeeze, but that's because there's foam padding in the inside of the case at each end. I lock the case with padlocks too when I check it in.

I first got the case when someone shipped me a BN6, and it fitted that just fine.

Cool! I love to read a testimonial like this from someone I trust. I'll have to put it on my wish list then for my wife. It sounds like she's got Father's day covered, but maybe for a birthday? ;)

Tom7 beat me to the punch! The SKB shell is what I recommend when people are traveling. Personally, I HATE most of the hardshell bass cases that are out there. They don't really protect the bass all that well, but at least they are heavy and expensive. :D

I personally love my iGig gig bag for normal use. And when I have to travel, I pack it in the SKB shell.

BTW, I do have both products in stock, if anyone is needing them...

Do any of you Have / Use Hard shell cases for your FBass??

I have two gigs this year that require me to travel long distances, where the tractor trailer will be packed with all equipment including my basses...do any of you have recommendations?...the stock FBass gig bag is great...but I get really concerned...whos kidding who...i get paranoid when my gear isnt sitting in the same cab as me.
Ideas...thoughts on Hard shell case...maybe flight case...let me know...thanks

Randyt

Another thing I like about it is that when you hit the hotel or whatever the other side of your plane journey you just leave the SKB in your room and take the bass around in a gig bag as you would back home.

Dear all, the relatively short wait was totally worth it, here are some photos of my brand new BNF6. The red color sort of defines the way this beast sounds, between total peaceful tenderness and massive-demolition-wall-of sound.

I am very happy, I commend George's work, beautiful bass. I am adapting to its size as we speak (it will take another hour to do so), I get more attached every second I spend on it, I can't put this instrument down.

Great to be (if you still have room for one more) part of this club.

hey guys, here's a clip my band, YOSHA, live at the Independence Week Concert here in the Philippines. BN4 short scale running flat through an Aguilar TH500 (flat) with a GS212 cab and an Aguilar filter twin.
