would take some R&D time because I don't think he's made one yet.

One of my lifelong best friends lives in Sidney where he owns two jewelry stores... or as you guys spell it: [FONT=book antiqua, times new roman, times]jewellery.[/FONT]
Anyway, he custom made my wife's and my wedding rings for us, and is a dear family friend who visited us in Alaska not long ago. We were glad moose showed up in all the cool places so he could leave utterly Amazed with Alaska.
Unfortunately, as much as I like the Yin Yang, it's likely going to become cash so I can get another (but one of a kind) 6-string Fbass.
Does that mean you are going to unfriend me?
Last time I mentioned a non-Fbass here, it brought new people into the club thread with lots of strong opinions, so I'm wondering what this post might do, but...
The Fodera club was starting to get posts by discontented people, often because of the long waiting time for basses, and sometimes because the price of the basses would go up as they waited. Then a TBer named Just Thumpin' started doing an excellent job of smoothing things over, then a line started appearing under his name saying, "Manager and Partner, Fodera Guitars (as of 10/14/09)." Apparently they've had a reorganization over at Fodera where the business aspect was turned over to new people, and the Foderas could put their full time into building basses.
In no way, shape, or form should this post be construed as critical. My own business experience tells me that most, if not all successful business experiences periods of growing pains, where circumstances help them realize they need to make difficult changes to continue to be successful, so hats off to Fodera for their recent changes.
I mention it only because I think it is interesting that in Club Fbass, we have George participating. In the Nordy Club, Carry Nordstrand and one of his employees frequently log on and participate. In the Alleva Coppolo club, Jimmy Coppolo likewise signs on and keeps in touch with his customer base. And I've seen Roger Sadowsky post in Club Sadowsky and I believe I've seen posts by Pete Skjold. And now Fodera has Just Thumpin' on here as well.
To me, this is yet another great reason why I think talkbass.com is just one of the COOLEST places on the Internet!

I agree with you tom. I have been spending the last weeks going through the old club Fbass pages to see pictures and discussions about exactly what I want when the time comes (soon please...) when I order the superbass (What I am calling my new Fbass I will order sometime this spring). It is truly awesome to see some of the questions I have myself answered by George himself. He is very nice and informative, and seeing what kind of a person he is makes his basses all the more attractive to me. That's sounds kind of weird, but o well.
Tom, you should totally get that AC6, it is just too awesome. If I were a little more "ready" (had the $$$) I would be all over it, if you didn't want it.
The Ying Yang is cool also, I don't envy you having to choose between them, Can't it be both?

There is no main factor; it is all the facets of construction, balance, feel, wood selection, hardware selection, and fine tuning the pickups to sound vintage but yet have a very good Low B response. There are very tough parameters to achieve. That is why I waited so long to build one. I needed to gather the expertise.
There are very few builders who have "nailed" the vintage 5 string. I believe I have!
A vintage 6 will be another "expedition" in learning.

Well, then I'm kind of weird too because EVERY time I see George has posted here, I think, "Man! That is so cool he does this!" And I'm like you too in that I like knowing that my money is going to a good guy. Just as some doctors may underestimate the effect their bedside manner has on patients, there is some of that to some degree with luthiers -- especially when buying a hand made creation.
I agree with you. From the first photo I saw of it while it was being made, I have been intrigued with it.

Very nice! I really appreciate those.
It's amazing how much it helps to look at these mockups compared to just imagining the bass. To be honest, for my taste I think I like the Fiesta Red a little better.
