Ha, ha! Well, that explains that! I'm sure it's as strong as ever. Something like that would never deter from purchasing such a bass (it's more the money aspect, and the lack thereof...) when it's coming from someone as reputable as George.

Yup, and now Joe can help me gang up on you over the bridge too.I thought of you, Vic, the instant I saw it.
Joe'll change out the bridge to get tighter spacing. I'm sure it has 19mm now.
george put a hipshot a and a neck pickup cover before shipping it. ill pull in the spacing when it gets here. and marcus style bass or not, i dont like playing a jazz without a neck pickup cover!
+1Really? Those pickup covers drive me crazy...
While I'm thinking of it Joe, which bass did you use on Lusitanos?george put a hipshot a and a neck pickup cover before shipping it. ill pull in the spacing when it gets here. and marcus style bass or not, i dont like playing a jazz without a neck pickup cover!
CRAP! And here I thought you were gonna' gang up on Tom7 with me on the bent plate... there went those plans... (sound of toilet flushing in the background)...george put a hipshot a ...
[Laughing!] Actually, with Joe's hipshot, your bent plate and my BAV, we'll have to form our own gang together 'cause otherwise we lack a quorum.CRAP! By the way, Steve, speaking of the smooth tone of the BN5, I thought you might be interested in seeing who else shares your taste in basses...It's been a long time coming but I've finally got a bass that makes me feel like there's no reason to look in the TB classifieds anymore...
A hearfelt thanks to Donovan Bankhead for helping me to score this amazing instrument. Donovan was really patient with me over the past month or two and really went above and beyond the call to make this happen. BRAVO to George F for making the best damn bass I've ever played!
You've heard it all before but.... tough!
The preamp is just completely usable. It puts an enormous palette of tones at your disposal. The action is very low and easy with no noise or buzzing. The neck contour feels perfect to my hand. Fit and finish are outstanding and the cocobolo top is really exceptional. Look carefully at the figure in the wood. It looks like a face to me - two eyes, nose, and fu manchu mustache. This bass really kicks ass, no other way to put it.
I'm in love with the BN-5!
I'd be happy to take a number if you've got an extra, Tom.

I'm trying to remember if George told me in an email, or if he mentioned here that Dominque DiPiaza's VF5 has narrower string spacing as well...george put a hipshot a and a neck pickup cover before shipping it. ill pull in the spacing when it gets here. and marcus style bass or not, i dont like playing a jazz without a neck pickup cover!
Really? Those pickup covers drive me crazy.....There's a great sound that you can get from playing right over the neck pickup.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, except for the string spacing, you and I appear to have very similar taste in alder rosewood VF5s.

I have my pickup cover off now, in part so I could put the finger ramp on, and when the second part of my finger ramp gets here, I'll put it back on and give it another go.
But I LOVE my VF5 with this bridge.
Oops, I gotta go. I'll talk more about it later.
Substitute BN-5 for VF and this statement applies to me perfectly. In a nutshell, user preferences.
The VF, on the other hand, was pure magic for me from the first note... and haven't regretted it for a second.
Yeah man, Marcus has good taste!By the way, Steve, speaking of the smooth tone of the BN5, I thought you might be interested in seeing who else shares your taste in basses...

And Hadrien seems to really like it...
As does Nathan East.
And that your bridge, Vic.
YES!!!!! That's perfect! George, if you're reading this, did you keep the measurements to make more with that neck??? Damn!
unless im trippin' that neck doesnt look any more narrow if at all. doesnt dominque use full spaced basses?
Maybe it's just that the nut is narrow....I can't tell for sure. Wishful thinking. I know that his old Fodera that he had for a short time had narrow spacing. I've seen him with other basses with full spacing though.....just goes to show you.....
