Thank for the pics Thunder, they look awesome! I love that Lake Placid Blue with matching headstock and rosewood board. Great I am waiting for my BN-6 to be done and I already have my next Fbass picked out.

By the way, sorry for any confusion I might have caused, I have been traveling to northern Minnesota from Vegas for the holidays and didn't have a chance to post-Chris.

Sorry if I was misunderstood. I wasn't trying to say your idea was bad I
was just explaining why I didn't do the custom headstock veneer on my
olive VF5. I like your placid blue idea a lot.

I wasn't sure if you wanted a matching headstock or if you wanted a
maple fretboard so I did a version of each. Let me know if I got it
right. Sorry it took so long. I had to make a VF6 template first.

I LOVE the mock ups... they add so much to talkbass and to our club discussions... but as amazing as they are, there is just something about knowing a bass is real that really does it for me. Ain't nothin' like the real thing, baby!

I think he usually uses oil but someone recently got a VF4 and it had a
lacquer finish. It might have been nitro though. Not sure. I'm sure you
can order a lacquer finish if you wanted it.

Just note that this bass would not be possible to make with his current method of construction, since he currently top routes.

Yeah I figured it would be. Just a concept.

It would be cool if he could get longer pots so it could be routed through the back and still
have a pickguard. But I guess it would only be useful for a clear pickguard so it's not really
reasonable to do it at all.

Well, remember, he back routes the BN's, so going that way is not a problem.

Also, yeah, the only job of the pickguard would then be just as a top protector and maybe a slapping aide. I'd probably opt for no pickguard on that bass, or MAYBE a smaller pickguard design or even just a small ramp... if anything.

So this would probaly look like the Bn's in single coil mode ??? ???

Yeah with a different body shape, different scale length, different headstock shape, different pickups, different strings, different knobs, different input placement, and a different bridge.

The pickguard isn't the only difference between the VF and the BN.
