Well, I picked up one of the limited run of Studio basses from the 2015. It's nearly unplayed, basically new condition. Auburn burst finish, 34" scale, (instead of the 34.5" that's standard on BNs), Ash body, Rosewood board.

Just threw on a fresh set of strings and did a setup. All I can say is wow! I didn't think it was possible, but the construction on this one might be even better than my VF5. And that bass is among the best built I've ever owned. I really like the radius-ed pickups (I tend to be a ramp player). And the hum cancelling option is great to have if needed. I was hoping for a bit warmer/smoother tone than my VF5 (ash/maple) and that's exactly what I believe I've got.

Beauty!!

I think the BN’s (and studio) really show off the workmanship more than the VFs. They aren’t the run of the mill jazz bass copy, and the base BNs are really a heckuva deal comparatively...All hand made, matching pu shells and covers, proprietary pu’s and preamp, nitro finish, etc. There are CNC made screw-together jazz clones that cost more.

So, I got a heads up from a friend of ours that comes out and takes pics every once in a while, that I was in a few of her "top 15" pics on IG. She also let me know that a guy that's a pretty big deal in our world "liked" a couple of her pics...

I know he does it a bunch, but I was excited about it! They now know there's at least one guy in Indiana that's playing F Basses, !

Another one of her pics of me was liked by Greta VanFleet(sp?)-which is cool, but I wonder if it was an accident, LOL!

Thanks for the update Tom, just happened to notice that somehow my BN5 got replaced by Bassjuju's VF. Although I wouldn't mind adding that to my collection, at your convenience could you reinsert my BN5 instead of his VF. Thanks member #300

I have this bass in my hands, now, and I have to say, as much as I was looking forward to this bass, and as much as I knew what to expect, this 40th Anniversary Bass is blowing my mind! Unplugged, it just sings (which is always a good sign), and the neck - with that lovely oil finish - is one of the most comfortable I have played. With the P/J setup and the F Bass EQ, this thing is a tone chamelion. Oh, and that is some of the nicest looking mahogany I have seen. It really pops in person. Yes, I know it's the honeymoon, but I've been down that road before, and I am telling y'all, these basses are something special!
