Thanks guys - nope not hijacked - all good. Story sharing is a great part of TB. @Tom7 @woundround .....mine is also ash block down the middle with the alder wings. So, i have more things to add to the story (as of yesterday)...i was making a trip towards Fbass HQ for a job, thought id bring my bass (the new Fbass) and i stopped by.
Marcel and George were very welcoming - they gave me a tour of their facilities, shared some great info and some funny stories. I met all the great people who make our amazing Fbasses - each person specializes in their own specific skill and you can see this is a passion, not "just a job". I was impressed.
Very interesting opinions, and proof in front of me, on how woods sounds different, even being from same species. Kind of "mind blown" to pick up two rosewood fretboards, same species, similar in appearance - yet sound VERY different with varying techniques. Also interesting on how purpleheart wood - isnt so purple, it actually TURNS purple once cut and sits in the elements - they take pics of it every week to see if its "purple" enough as it constantly turns more and more purple. Very cool!
So, while there, i decided to bling my VF4 a bit, i left it there to get a bit of custom work done on her. (NOT that it it was needed - just saw some inspiring things that made me think..hmmmm) We have a sickness, what can i say?! haha I will send pics once done. Probably be a month or so before i get back out there to pick up.
