I was so startled by your photo I had to go look at my Fbasses... none of them have a side dot situation like yours.
My maple finger boards have dark dots, and my ebony finger boards have white dots, so there is contrast. Is your fingerboard rosewood or ebony?
BTW, your photo reminds me of my grandkids' googly eye craft toys:

I've been especially tempted to get Syannab's VF5PJ, if it is still available. It's unclear if it is from the thread.
I've long thought of myself as a 6-string player who has 5ers for certain things, but my last gig with my BN5 has me rethinking that. I'm old enough now were I can appreciate a lighter bass, and this was the first time I didn't feel so anxious about my "missing" string.
If I'm moving toward 5ers, then I'm probably a fool for not moving on this bass.

It’s a beauty for sure. But, what’s this about F Bass P & J pups?? I know the older VF’s had F J’s. When did they make a P?
I'm not sure. I think George made the VF pickups, both P and J, himself ever since he announced those models, and only recently (last 3 years?) started using Aguilar pickups instead.
I played an F Bass VF5 with Aguilar PJ PU's last weekend at Bass San Diego. They sound GREAT in the VF5. Very well voiced.
PS: That VF5 you posted is drop-dead gorgeous! If it's available, Do it Tom! You deserve it.
Dang. Didn’t plan right. Bass San Diego is open today by appointment and I didn’t make one, so no F Bass testing for me. Guess I’ll need to make a return trip to San Diego another day. My bad for not reading the web site for Saturday hours. I thought I could’ve stopped by yesterday, but traffic was 2 hours longer than expected from LA.
Today was another good day! Living only a half hour from the shop made it easy to bring in the AC5 I recently purchased for some work. I had the fretboard sanded down and re oiled, the back of the neck smoothed out. The after market ramp which was previously attached with two sided tape that was shifting around and leaving residue, was mounted with offset screws after the residue was cleaned up. Some of the dings were touched up and the input jack replaced.
After all that, George did a restring and complete set up. There's more but you probably get the idea. The nice AC5 that I brought in is now a fantastic AC5, set up perfectly for me. She feels and sounds AWESOME!!

@wthompson007 Guess I'm lucky I don't live near the FBass shop. It must be a constant temptation.
You're on this site enough to know there's temptation everywhere! It's just really nice to be able to pop in and have George work on my bases when needed.
I’d play nothing but Fbasses if I lived that close to the shop!
I'm up to four Fbasses now. I guess I didn't deal with the temptation as well as I could have.
