Club Fbass (thread 13)

I don’t know if he’s on here, but Jeffrey Tan is a great bass player I met in our FBass Facebook group. I’ve been obsessing over his VF5-PJ he acquired from Karel Honasan. Its a beautiful bass and sounds fantastic. Very interested because of Jimmy Coppolo’s pups which were installed. Anyone have them in your F? I’m tempted to order the same bass verbatim.

And speaking of the great Jimmy Coppolo.. Does anyone besides me have a NY Model BN5 ? I found the post talking about them from 2003 but didn’t want to resurrect that zombie thread.

I have one. It also has vintage (smaller fretwire) and hipshot UL tuners were on the NY model. The neck shape is slightly different (more comfy imo).

I really like the neck shape on my NY. Mine has Gotoh tuners and the headstock is natural, not painted. Also, has wood knobs.
Jimmy had the best shop in NYC back when that sort of thing existed. He got out before it all went to hell. I played the first few of his AC Basses before he moved out west. Not Our AC ;) ;) they were great Basses and one was for John Taylor from Duran Duran.

Is the fiery one an NYC as well? Don't think I've seen a headstock like that before on an Fbass

It is an F-bass but from the "GFC" (George Furlanetto Custom) run which was like a handful or so. I have two of them. One is currently being refinished in two tone burst and the other is the one you see in the pic (autumnburst).
