It's been a long while since I've owned an F (had a BN5 and an AC5 many moons ago) and for some reason as I progress as a player, I find myself becoming more and more sensitive to scale length and how your bass is positioned relative to your body to the point that I'm seriously considering dedicating to one brand "ecosystem" to achieve some kind of consistency.
For those of you who own BNs, BNFs or ACs with the elongated horn where the strap peg is hanging above the 10-11th fret...and then ALSO own VFs or other basses with strap pegs more "traditionally" located around the 12th fret, do you find that "shift" causes any issues with muscle memory as you go back and forth? Seems many of you find it more comfortable; I don't really recall thinking it was more or less. More specifically, as a player who always plays with a strap with bass in the "classical guitar style" where it's allowed to hang in the exact same position whether sitting or standing (i.e. I never play with the bass perched on my right thigh), I would expect that shift to cause some issues unless you're strictly playing the aforementioned F models. Thoughts on how you overcome.

Need pics!Hey folks... I'm about to join the club! Just bought a 2005 BN5 from a store in Japan... Hoping for the best in shipping, and I'll post my own pictures as soon as it shows up. They're all beauties, but damn, this one I bought strikes me harder than most. I'm hyped!
One question for people who've been here a while (because I don't have the energy to sort through a decade of Club F-Bass posts) - my BN5 has something I haven't found on any others yet... Mac ebony fingerboard with Maple block inlays... Gorgeous (and yes, I'll post pics when it comes!), but have you seen other fingerboards like this on F Basses?
Shout out to George and Marcel for responding real fast to some questions about this particular instrument...
Just got my bass from Japan!!
2005, George told me he believes this to be the only macassar ebony fingerboard that he's done with maple inlays.
Damn this thing feels good. The b string!!!
I very much like this configuration of fretless BN5/BN6... with the metal bridge. It sets it further apart from the AC6 and helps one rationalize that he needs both!
