Club Fbass (thread 13)

Years ago I contacted George and crew about resurfacing a BNF I had, as I recall he recommended using someone local because you never know what issues might be encountered when the bass passes through customs.

You may want to reach out to them anyway, but I would also look for and get a quote from a local person.

Reading that made me so grateful to live so close to the shop. When I wanted work done in the fretboard of my AC5, being able to have George himself work on it meant a great deal to me . And it's always great to see Marcel too!

I just spoke with Marcel Furlanetto. Since I bought the Olympic white flat top BN5 that was on their homepage a few months ago, I've been meaning to call and let them know how much I appreciate the craftsmanship of their basses. He answered my question about the top. It is not a separate piece, it is the ash body and taped off and colored the matte olympic white. Marcel is such a gentleman and was truly thankful for my call. Long live FBass!

Hey ya'll, figured this would be a good place to ask this...

I have an amazing F Bass BN5, but I may need to sell it because of some issues I'm having with my left wrist. Actually, selling most of my long scale basses and switching to short scale because it causes me less problems.

I've been able to find only one example of a short-scale FBass 5 string, so I'm wondering if any of you folks have had an opportunity to play a short-scale F Bass.

I'm assuming it was a one-off and sort of rare, but I'd love to hear any feedback from those that may have had a chance to play one.

I had shoulder issues a few years ago and order a 33" scale for that reason- I think you would be happy with something similar

They have and can still do a 30” scale, however, they typically recommend going no shorter 32.5” for the best tone and feel.

Note: They can’t go any shorter than 34” on the Deluxe BN Series due to the pickups’ strong magnetic pull. Even then they’d recommend sticking to the 34.5”.

Do you know if that 32.5” suggestion is for a 5 with a low B? The short scale FBass I saw was tuned EADGC.

If the 32.5 was for a BEADG tuning, I think that would be just the ticket for me.
