Club Fbass (thread 13)

Whippet,
I'm pretty sure you can get the strings you want here in Tokyo.
Try Ikebe Bass Collection or 【デジマート】楽器と音楽機材専門の検索&総合情報サイト or Invalid Link Removed

got my AC6 at Bass Collection in Shibuya. Unfortunately they had no Thomastiks for a 6 string. Soundhouse told me the same thing. Both told me that 6 string flats and nylons are rarely in demand so they dont carry them .

I did find out that R. Cocco has a high C string that I can buy as an individual string. I'll continue to search for the Labellas and Thomastiks meanwhile.

Ikebe has the Thomastiks. That's where I got mine from. I sold the AC6 but kept the strings.

View attachment 851794 Just about 2 months from being done! Very excited about this build!!!

Went with the ash tone block and alder wings (along with the larger body option).
I've often wondered about tone blocks and wings... can anyone explain to me, for example, what do you get tonally with an ash tone block and alder wings?

I know you've long touted this as the most authentic 70's Jazz 5-string. Have you found something better? Finally gonna break down and buy an Alleva, lol?
HA! No, the reality is I liked the idea of 5 string versions of my old basses more than actually having them. I have a 74 and a war horse modded 76 that's my main bass. The f bass never left my house. I bought a carvin jb5 to still have a 5 string 70s jazz although that's turned into a nightmare and its in for warranty repairs.
