Club Fbass (thread 13)

Thanks. It was a tough decision but hopefully I made the right one(s).
It's really hard to go wrong with an Fbass.
Now I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning and December just started.
Not a tough decision for me; I like chrome hardware with blue basses, so you've got my endorsement! :-)

Some nice posts here fellas!

Darn near every F-bass finish is my favorite, and I'd be happy with any of them. When I bought mine, price was one of the primary factors... And I'm glad, as I would have had an extremely difficult time deciding had that not narrowed down my options!

I think my present fave is the antique brownburst:

There's a big upcharge for that one, not sure why some bursts are cheaper

Sorry to disappoint you.....chrome.
When we first started on this build it was going to be a mac ebony board. That changed to maple then birdseye maple. I was going to change the hardware to black but Marcel suggested with this birdseye I should go with the chrome. I believe in his judgement.
If it's any consolation my VF5 under construction will have black hardware.View attachment 1185909
Have you considered gold? ;-)

yeah that look does NOT suck :)

I still prefer black but that bass is drop dead gorgeous by any standard. Killer grain too. I gotta stop looking at this thread until I can afford another F bass!

Like that charcoal!
Thought about that finish, but, some of the BN's ive seen with it almost had a purple hue to them.
I wonder if that bass is not swamp ash.(?)

Yeah, there seems to be some variation in the charcoal bursts. Some, like mine, are more brown/natural in the center others are more grey/black hued. I also think that a gloss or satin sheen affects our perception of the actual color.

But I love the bass. It's looks and plays beautifully.

That sounds like a unique and awesome build. A VF6 pj and fretless at that. I love the LP blue with the tort pickguard. It has a nice vintage yet modern look.
How long till she's in your hands?
The build doesn't begin for another month or 2, then it'll probably be another 3-4 months. But I've already given my deposit so I'm in the queue anyway.

I hope you're a more patient man than I. When I was waiting for my EBMM Reflex5 mm/s/s, it took about 8 months. I don't recall ever feeling the degree of anticipation I'm feeling now as I wait for my first Fbass. The closer they get to completion the more anxious I get.

I'm fine with the wait. It'll be more exciting when the build begins and I start receiving progress pictures.
