Wait til you see that top under the gloss of the finish. YIKES!
Nothing you think you know about THAT will prepare you for whats comin'. As a first time Sad' owner myself, I can tell you you won't soon forget it! Can't wait to see some pics of it. Anyone gone thru the build process knows what you're goin' thru. All the best.

Hey everyone...have a build in progress...and going mad waiting on it (placed the order last july....TORTURE!!!)...just had to share my grief with all of you lol....my first Sadowsky, here's the specs:

Vintage 5 J-Bass
Buckeye Burl on Ash
Birdseye Maple board w/ abalone dots, vintage tint, 1.75" nut width
Reverse P/J pickups w/ chrome cover on reverse P
Clear plexi pickguard
Chrome hardware

Here's a pic of the raw body...Kevin said it's in spray so i'm eagerly awaiting those pics:

Am I in, or do I have to wait til it's done?

That's gorgeous! I would have had a hard time deciding on chrome or black hardware for that, either would work. That's going to be one show stopping bass when it's finished.

OHHH yea, i prolly got Kevin annoyed with my switching back and forth between black and chrome lol, but i figured the chrome would go well with the color and classic J-Bass look, plus it'd match the control plate and bell cover...

Hahahaha, you didn't know that's when the whole Sadowsky crew gets to take your bass out on a gig and let all the bar drunks spill beer on it for good luck.

I'm sorry to tell you that you can't join the club 'cause by the time you get it its body will be the size on an Steinberger: Have you seen how it's melting on the bottom?! It seems like wood selection is not what it used to be :scowl:























you are #332, right after Blair, so honor that number and never play that bass with a pick (I think that after the flats vs rounds chat we needed some new points of controversy )

Agreed. It will be one of the more "exotic" Sadowskys out there. I love everything about it. Glad to see you picked chrome. I don't think chrome gets enough love these days. The black HW seems to be generally preferred.

Not exactly sure about the PU cover, though. I'd want to see it before I allowed screws to be drilled into that top. I would concerned the bell cover would dominate the landscape -- so to speak. But, if there are functional concerns, then as nice as it is, function should always carry the day over form.

Either way, you are certain to end up with an amazing bass.

If it was a cover for a jazz pickup then I could dig it but the P cover with the jazz body is gonna look a little off, IMO. A P cover doesn't really match the lines of a jazz body.

I would concur. There's a reason 9 out of 10 vintage Fenders have lost them over the years. Same goes for the bridge/rear PU covers. They call them ashtrays because that's what most end up as!!

Plus, I tend to float around with my hand from bridge to neck. I don't want to be denied any "sweet spot" I might find.
