I can dig on the aesthetics of the bridge cover.

On this piece of wood, I might opt for back hardware, as it matches some of the elements in the wood itself.

Agreed. It will be one of the more "exotic" Sadowskys out there. I love everything about it. Glad to see you picked chrome. I don't think chrome gets enough love these days. The black HW seems to be generally preferred.

Not exactly sure about the PU cover, though. I'd want to see it before I allowed screws to be drilled into that top. I would concerned the bell cover would dominate the landscape -- so to speak. But, if there are functional concerns, then as nice as it is, function should always carry the day over form.

Either way, you are certain to end up with an amazing bass.

If it was a cover for a jazz pickup then I could dig it but the P cover with the jazz body is gonna look a little off, IMO. A P cover doesn't really match the lines of a jazz body.

+1 I would go Standard with no pickguard or covers, Black hardware, Diamond control layout!!!

Let that body do the talking!!! Very nice piece for sure!

I've had covers on a few of my Sadowsky's over the years. I like them a lot. They do limit the playing area a bit but it's not a major issue for me. It's definitely a preference thing though. You could do it with double sided tape first if you wanted. I'm all about commitment -- so for me, I'd just go for it.

Hmmm the double sided tape idea isn't a bad one...but i'm still thinking "hey, if I don't like it, just take it off and put the screws back in". Which reminds me...

A question for anyone with a Sadowsky vintage w/ bell cover...if you take the cover off, do the screws go down all the way to sit flush with the pickguard like the regular PG screws?

WOW! I'm one who feels if you are doing a PJ, you should do it as it was originally designed.... i.e., get a GREAT P Bass and then add a J pickup, versus swapping the neck J pickup for P pickup in J bass.

Man, P Body, Brazilian board..... that is what I'm talking about. You have a REAL P there when you solo the P pickup, and kind of a P+ when you dial in the J. And, five strings... shut up Awesome!

Roger doesn't have a booth here, as noted, but there were a couple Sadowsky sitings. I'm posting NAMM pics up at bassgearmag.com here shortly, but I'll have to post my own pics of the two "Sadowsky sightings" up a bit later. One was in the DiMarzio booth, and the other was in the Hipshot booth.

Oh, also hooked up with Bluesycat and her hubbie, and got a chance to chat with Roger a bit, and even knock out a couple "group pics". Those were fun. Wow, every time I talk to Roger it's so clear what a great guy and consumate professional he is.

BTW! NEWS SCOOP!

Roger is moving his shop from Jay street! He expects to be in his new location in Long Island City March. I'm sure the web site will be updated, and he's still staying in the NYC area... not a huge move from a distance or accessibility standpoint, but still a pain of course. He's got it all worked out such that it should only impact his schedule by about a week. No big deal... for his customers, anyway... typical Roger.

Yeah my first P-body... I quite like it although I have only played it sitting down, through a small combo... looking forward to fully fledged rehearsal later...
