You could have told me it was 15lbs. And make me think I dont want it. ok I WANT THAT BASS

Seriously if you ever want to sell it I would probably be interested. But, If I bought it my wife would probably kill me. She is quite convinced two Sadowsky basses are plenty for me right now.

By "oversized", he means "size of a Fender bass" :D
I think it's about 1/2" overall... but I could be wrong.

I don't personally dig the aesthetic of that particular NYC... but I would opt for a NYC over a Metro if I were buying without playing first. I would also wait till the *right* NYC popped up used - that's just me though.

HI

UV bodies are the same size as the Fender bodies of that era. Most nyc's and the regular metros are streamlined versions. Think of them as 7/8th's the size or "dinky". UV's are cool because you get the blocks and binding and a 9 degree radius on the fretboard. Dont be afraid of a new metro. Ive owned over 25 Sadowsky's and my present two basses are a metro pj5 and a metro pj hybrid

I've got a US Lakland Glaub for now, and I really want a J-style Sadowsky to round things out, so I'm going to wait for the right Sadowsky. I really love the RS4's, the no pickguard look appeals to me (hence my desire for the older NYC), but I'd have to order one and wait 5 months. We'll see. I do love this RS4...

I figured that. I have been playing my NYC the last hour or so and WOW. Dont know if its as special as the blonde bomber but its a pretty special Bass. I cant wait to let you play it sometime. We got busy before I got to make it up to see your band. I havent forgot just havent had time.

The correct answer is to buy all 3 and sell the two you like least later. Any generalizations about these basses are typically wrong. 85% of statistics are made up. Any bass can have dead spots, certain basses will scratch you right where you itch and others won't ... at any price point. I've had about a dozen sadowskys, and the two I kept spoke to me the most.

The NYC of that era is more similar to the current Metro's than the current NYC's (no routing, no graphite reinforcement), so kind of a moot point there IMO between the older NYC and current Metro's.

Key issues for you IMO:

1) The 'standard' models without guard have quite a bit of space between the body and strings, which for some (slappers, etc.) can be a negative.

2) The older NYC will most likely have single coil pickups, while the Metro's have the humcancelling pickups. Easy to swap of course, but that might be a difference you want to consider if you strongly lean one way or the other and don't want to spend more money to swap pickps.

3) The UV, in addition to the full size body, also has 70's pickup position, and a bit meatier neck profile.... so quite a different instrument from the RV5's or MV5's.

Just more stuff to think about!
