I've even often found any music store that carries instruments has like a little Hosa rack or something with this kinda' stuff on it. There's nothing special about the ones in the Sadowsky. Unless I'm forgetting something, it's just a plain 1/4" stereo jack, regardless of if it's on an Electrosocket (newer) or a football plate (older).

Thanks, Vic. I haven't hit RadioShack yet. I'm not concerned about the brand or whatever, and I know there's nothing unique about it, just was frustrated that the major (and conveniently located) stores don't have a fairly useful guitar part. (And I'm pretty sure they carried them in the past).

Funny note after my post that I did not use my mid switch on the Will
Lee. Things sounded a little muffled/muddy when the gig started. Instead of fiddling with the amp, I tried the mid switch. Sound immediately cut through better. So, I guess I have to say it is useful after all!

I wish I had a mid switch on my Sadowsky. I feel my bass does not have enough mid presence in some cases.

I visited the shop again on Tuesday and purchased #5776..

I love this bass !!! Lisa did alittle tweaking and set-up and it plays beautifully... I didn't buy #5839, but I did order another P-5 similar to this one below, but with 21 frets and
1 7/8" neck, Shell Pink with matching headstock, Brazilian board w/mother of pearl dots, mint guard and VTC...

VERY NICE!!!

No offense to the 5839 lovers out there, but the dual J pickup config in 4939 would be a lot more to my liking too. IMHO more versatile. Good call all the way around, and yeah, I've played Lisa's work before and it's absolutely second to none!

Wow! Really?
I wouldn't say my Sadowsky is lacking in the mids at all. In fact, I think that's where a Sadowsky shines in a live mix.
It has the "right" mid content in it's sound to cuddle up nicely in the mix. Almost regardless of wood combos.

Don't know how you run your amp or setting on your bass, but if you want more mids, don't turn them up, turn things around them down.
Seems counter-intuitive I know. But "cut before you boost" EQ wise. That's FOH live sound 101 right there. (Even though the on-board is boost only).
And it hasn't been said in a while, a little bit of EQ on a Sadowsky goes a LONG LONG way.

I would re-visit you amp and bass settings. and give it a shot.
Will Lee had an awesome poster from his early Hartke/Sadowsky days.
The EQ on his amp was a frown and not the typical smile pretty much most bass players would do. And his live tone is always killin' .

If memory serves me I think Roger recommends and uses Switchcraft Jacks and I believe it use to state in his warranty use Switchcraft only!I believe All Parts has Switchcraft?

I run my amp completely flat and it's a TFunk. This is a very mid heavy amp I know. Bass is usually both pickups up, no VTC, and no preamp boost. Every once in a while I'll favor the bridge but tends to get a little thin if I don't use a little VTC. I'm just not getting the mid bite I expect out of all my jazz basses. With that said, the tone is great in its own respects, and you are correct, sits in a mix with authority. Do you use metros or NYC's?

Yeah, switchcraft is best, but any decent one will work, and actually for a pretty long time. So given a crunch, others are fine, otherwise, get the good stuff. Either way, this is really not a warranty concern. You're not gonna' do damage to the bass with a non-switchcraft jack, and it's a super trivial swap, so it's also nothing that would require a shop return, either.

In short, non-issue.

I've owned/used both Metro's and NYC's. And both IME have the same complex mid-content that I feel helps it sit well.
Hmm, stumped as I had a T-Funk as well and ran it just as you do for the most part.
Guess depending on your gig situation, you may need to bump the mids then.
