Club Sadowsky!!!

I don't have clips, but all my Sadowsky basses have been ash/Braz and I think they sound great. It's all about personal preference, though. All their instruments sound great in their own way.
I once had an alder/Indian rosewood bass from a high end luthier and I didn't like it at all. Even more strikingly is that I also owned an ash/Braz bass from another high end luthier that I didn't like either, so go figure...
My WL5 - which should be completed in the next 1-2 weeks - is ash/Amazon rosewood, since they don't export Braz anymore.

That's exactly what I've been considering! Will Lee 5, ash body, but I would get the Brazilian rosewood since I'm here in the US. Brazilian is an indulgence I think is worthwhile. I have Brazlian rosewood on my Fodera and love it.

That Mid switch is very useful for finger style, and I love the body proportions and extra fret as well.
When you get it, let me know how it turns out and consider a clip if you're not shy!

It is with a mix of sadness and pride that I announce the end of production of the SA200 and the SA410. In spite of some of the most glowing reviews in the industry, sales have not been strong enough to continue production.

In short, the best bass (Sadowsky, duh!) comes stock with the best strap lock: the Dunlop Dual Design. It is FAR superior to Schallers for a number of reasons, and I say this after having used Schallers for over a decade. In Y2K I tried the Dunlop Dual Design, and never looked back! No worries about the strap falling off of the locked button (all too common with Schaller), and the Dunlop Dual Design button has a better flange so it's much more effective with an unlocked strap.

Interesting!

In the Pleistocene era when I was in high school, I had an early version of these on a heavy Les Paul. I liked the locking mechanism, but otherwise the strap button flanges were so thin you were SOL if you needed to use a strap that didn't have the lock mechanism.

It looks like they've (Dunlop) solved that problem with the wider flange. I'll have to mull this over. Thanks for the insight!

Hi

I had and SA200. Sold it to fund the PA for my band which is now disbanded. LOL. Huge mistake. Best sounding amp Ive owned. Hate that I sold it. Oh well. One will come available someday and I hope the timing is right moneywise when it does. Was super simple to dial up and sounded fantastic. Not too heavy for a tube amp

I never had any issues with Schallers either in the last 2 decades I've been using them. But, that is what's great about Sadowsky....they give you choices if you prefer one over the other. It's all good!

Playing through the SA200 at Sadowsky last year, I have to say that is the best head I've ever plugged into.

I used Schallers for years, but have switched mostly to the Dunlops. I always have the Scallers working loose over time and yet to have that with the Dunlop.
