I'm getting a 24F 4 string. Buckeye burl top, master grade Birdseye maple fretboard. Hopefully I'll get some pics of tops to pick out soon....I hate the SRDF but the results will be spectacular.

I've managed to keep the bass at the back of my head rather than on top of my mind.

+1 I'm only 3 months in so I am pretty much taking this same approach.

HAH! I've beaten this phenomenon. I have the Freakishly Good Luck Disruptor.

Between buying my NYCs used/off-the-shelf, and others being Metros that happened to both be exactly what I wanted and also already on the way in short term, I haven't suffered the SRDF at all.

I use plain ol' D'Addario XL Nickels on both 4 and 5 string Metro Js, .045-.100 (.130) Cheap and good.

I needed that good laugh because I got hammered and beat up really bad at work today and it totally sucked. I needed a shoulder today and no one was there for me.

What keeps me going through work is coming home, hugging my kids, kissing my wife and opening my bass cases like it's Christmas morning, and playing them...trying to learn a riff that reminds me "I have much to learn."

I have the Sadowsky Blue Nickels on my NYC PJ and really like them better than any other nickel strings I've ever used. However, I may put a set of the Sadowsky flats on there as they sound great on my Lakland Skyline (so they should sound even better on the Sadowsky!!

My Will Lee currently has Dean Markley Blue Steels for an upcoming gig with my old band (a reunion show, singer is in for 2 weeks from Hawaii, so we are dusting off the old stuff). It is old school progressive metal, so the steels work well (plus we are tuned down a half step).

In the studio I use either Sadowsky Black nickel or Blue steels, depending on the tone I'm after. Both feel and sound fantastic.

Live I use only one string: Ernie Ball Slinkys. Why you ask?

1. I like they way they sound
2. I like they way they feel
3. I get them crazy cheap.
4. I utterly decimate and destroy any and all strings when I gig live, so see number 3 again!

Sadowsky Blue Label Stainless Steel strings for me. Thats what came on the Bass and I see no reason to experiment. I will admit I have thought about trying the Sadowsky Blue Label nickel strings. The next time I order strings I will try a set.

I use Slinkys on my Fender P and Roto 66 on my Lakland 5502D. Not looking forward to the extra cost of experimenting with strings on yet another bass. If I like the strings that my Sadowsky comes with, I'm tempted to just stick with 'em.

Blue nickels for me but I did order one set of the black nickels last time since I haven't tried them (and still haven't yet). The 24F5 came from Tom with Black stainless: just not a fan of SS like I used to be.

I've tried D'Addario, Dunlop and DR (nickel and SS) on my MV5 and none have topped the blue nickels for me.

I am a SS fan, as i have tried Nickels and they are not for me, too slinky for my taste, love how the SS have that grippy non slip feel to them.

I have tried SS on my NYC and Nickel on my Metro. But I love SS more, may be due it is on my NYC

Anyway may try again the nickel on NYC later, may be it will work better with Ebony
