It will surprise you I think. The bottom becomes super fat!!! I even go as high as 50% bass boost but then the treble has to climb w/it (& some passive roll off).

I don't think I could boost bass 50% at the axe without turning waaaaaaaaaaay down for fear I'd launch a driver.
Something about my fingers makes things fatter than most folks, to start with.

I like to do a rapid hammer-on @ the A on E & turn up the bass boost til I hear it just coming on. Even that fattens it up big time.

Suddenly I'm finding it [DEL]hard [/DEL]difficult to concentrate at work now...I just want to drag my tongue acorss that!
Edit: I know...."TWSS".
I just got my HPJ4 back in a trade deal, and messing around last night I found that about 30% bass seemed to be a sweet spot, even with pure P pup. But depends on a lot of factors.
I think what you need in place of that PJ5 is a fretless, unlined, 6 string FBass BN6F that is neck thru and has 28 'frets'. Yep, and in fact I have JUST that exact bass to trade to you.....

Throwing more drastic eq on the PJ, at the bass, seems to be something I like.
I'd have never cranked any of my JJ's like that, but, it seems to work on the PJ, and doesn't even explode speakers. So far...

Indeed! I'd only use it to help pay for the fretless 5 Roger and Co are building for me anyways. After some EXTENSIVE wankery of course.

If I can be serious for, like, a moment, it's good to see that you're coming around on that bass. Maybe it's just me, but buying an axe I just can't get with would cause me issues.
