I doubt i will ever get this one out of my mine. When i decide to get another SADOWSKY it will be a 4 string and it will be just like this but perhaps with blocks. WOW is all i can say.

Makes sense, because both in slap and with the bridge pickup the upper mids are a bit more prevalent, and that seems to be where the biggest difference is between the HC's and singles.

I'm thinking there would also be a noticeable difference in fingerstyle when digging in hard...

I just re-listened to the clips through proper speakers and I can now hear a much greater difference in the slap clips (a bit of a difference in the soloed clips and virtually none in the both-pickups-on-full clips). I actually prefer the sound of the singles slapped in those clips. Thanks again, Fran, for posting those!

If that's really true, you won't hear any of the noise and it's a moot point.

The good news is, it's an easy swap. The only risk you run is if you do go back to the HC's, you won't get all your purchase money back out on the flip (I don't know if Roger offers returns on these), but it's not a ton of money, either. Totally worth the experiment to find out for yourself on a gig IMHO.

Yep (well, not using, but have used, anyway), and BIG yep.

They'd matter on anything, honestly. Just because the woods sound different doesn't mean changing the pickups would be noticeable on one and not the other. It's noticeable on both.

^ Truth.

I'm a big True Single Coil guy... always have been. Every Sadowsky I ever owned always had singles in em'.

I don't find the noise to be that big an issue either. I play 99% both pickups on full... but when I do slightly favor the bridge or neck (in a mix) you never hear it.

The quicker attack and fatter midrange for me in a no-brainer.

I've had both sets and many Sadowsky basses. Both are cool but I've become a believer of single coils again. It started when I was having a 24/4 built and Roger recommended Nordstrand big singles. Mids are stronger in my opinion and the hum is minimal when panned
