Found a great deal on a 24F MV5. But have not played one and believe I may still prefer a standard 21fret MV5. But what do you think? $2100

One of the main questions I have is slapping. I don't do a lot, but when I do, is slapping on a 24f neck gonna be an issue? Won't know until I get my hands on one.

there was a "normal" nice MV5 in classifieds here.
I don't really slap, and I don't really have any use for the highest frets, so, no brainer for me.

That one there sure is pretty!
Keep in mind, these come standard with the HC pups, and I personally prefer the SC enough that it's a deal breaker for me as to whether it works or not, for me.

Do you mean issue as in undesirable tone, or difficulty due to your playing style? If your concern is tone, I wouldn't be concerned... especially if slap isn't a dominant or primary part of your style. The slap tone is great on these... it's just different from a more classic 21 fret design. If it's your playing style, and whether you'll feel cramped in that small space, yeah, that could be an issue.

Either way tho, you're right. If you're looking for the extended range of the 24 fret, you'll just have to try it and see. On the other hand, if you really don't care about the extra frets, why not just stick with a known quantity and get an MV5?

Ain't no thing, just gives folks variety! If that PJ (white NYC with roasted maple board) is the one I'm thinking of, he said he's about to list a cherryburst MV-PJ5 that I sure would like to try out.

If you were to email Kevin, I'm sure he'd happily tell you. That shop is eerily dedicated to supporting the second hand market of their instruments. Another reason to respect the heck out of them.

Since it is a Metro, the maple board means ash body. The biggest thing that swung me to a NYC was the lower weight of the chambered body.

Yeah, I have a Metro Will Lee in ash/maple that is only 8.5#. I picked that particular one out bc of the weight.
