One of the main questions I have is slapping. I don't do a lot, but when I do, is slapping on a 24f neck gonna be an issue? Won't know until I get my hands on one.

Nice looking bass! Classic. For the slapping, I prefer 21 or 22 frets both for tone (I find it gets thinner sounding the closer I move to the bridge) and for physical comfort. But plenty of great slappers (Victor Wooten and Mark King are two that come to mind) favour 24 fretters so I wouldn't be too discouraged.

By the way, looking at the new string retainer on 4-stringers, I'm sure Roger has changed it for a good reason. How does it improve the A string performance?

Not speaking for Roger, but going by the looks of the new string retainer:
-better down-pressure
-easier quick change of strings

I've got a 98', an 03' and the new Will Lee and I can't tell any difference except that it hides the logo a bit. They all play and sound great.

I'll definitely say that those retainers improve the speed of a string change. On a visual level, they clutter things up on the headstock, and especially the 4-banger needs a re-jig of the logo placement (or a re-size), but I'm sold on them anyway.

Maybe true with 5-stringers but I can't imagine anything faster on a 4 stringer than the old style retainer.

That might be true; I haven't had a 4 in years, so I'm always talking trough a 5-string filter.

I agree....like the old retainer on the 4s better!

Not a guaranteed way to tell. Just becomes a special request on the build config.

Yea, I'm a solid body guy... I had these special made to be solid (no chambering) ash bodies.

P-Bass build will be approx 8.50lbs when the bass is complete. The JJ will be 8.67 when complete.

The flame top one is indeed one single piece of wood. Roger journeyed into the wild and found a maple tree growing near swamp ash... he tracked their growth, while the two tree's combine and out came that.

I lied – he had Kevin venture into the woods.
