A little update on newly acquired 5050. It was originally ordered with Big Singles. After a few gigs with it, the tone just isn't what I want out of the modern with soapbars. The tone of my M5-24 is more of the sound I was expecting when I purchased this bass. I thought it might be a bit different with the rosewood board, but that sparkle of the Sadowsky soaps just can't be gotten with the Big Singles. Since the soaps with the large profile are no longer made, I thought I might have a hard time trying that option. Thanks to TB, someone came to my aid. I installed some Sadowsky soapbars, and immediately that tone that first sold me on the modern profile came to life. I realize to some, the Big Singles would be just the ticket to making a Modern sound more conventional. They really are some great sounding pickups, but as I mentioned, not the tone I've come to love out of the Sadowsky soaps. It now sounds exactly as I hoped it would from the start.
