Ok, so here's a few unworthy carpet shots of mine, better late than never, but still not doing it justice.
The thing that surprised me most about this bass is how insanely balanced it is tonally. The B string has all the focus and purity you'd expect from such a premium instrument, but as a very natural extension of the rest of the instrument. And the D and G strings don't "disappear" on you without having to hit them harder. Basically, you just play the damn thing. I can definitely hear the effects of the ebony over 4098... has a bit more sizzly high end, but while not as aggressive in the grind area, still a very good presence there... not missing anything. It's just a complete and total joy to play.
